NFL 2024 – Week 2 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

The majority of the matches in week two of the NFL 2024 season take place on the second Sunday of the new campaign as teams who started well look to double down on that and sides who didn’t try and get off the mark.

The Sunday schedule in the UK is the same as ever with two live games in full on TV for us to enjoy while the big plays and scoring updates are provided on the RedZone show. Certain bookmakers also live stream the games which aren’t live on TV.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The televised match in the opening part of the day takes us to the home of the Minnesota Vikings as they take on the San Francisco 49ers in what looks like a tasty NFC dust up. We have nine other matches in the early slate with only one of them being a division clash and that comes from the NFC East where the Washington Commanders host a New York Giants side who really need a performance after a dismal display last week.

That leaves us with eight other matches with all eyes being on Gillette Stadium where the New England Patriots will look to back up their surprise win last week when they host the Seattle Seahawks. New York Jets were firmly put in their place on Monday night and will look to show they are better than that when they travel to the Tennessee Titans. Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns both lost quite tamely last week and will look to avoid going 0-2 when they meet in Florida while the Baltimore Ravens will look to bounce back from their opening night loss when they host the Las Vegas Raiders. The other matches see two teams who won emphatically last week meeting when Dallas Cowboys host New Orleans Saints, an ordinary looking Carolina Panthers taking on the Los Angeles Chargers, the Deteiot Lions hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers welcoming the Indianapolis Colts to Lambeau Field.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

That leaves us with just the three matches in the later slot where the live game for us in the UK will come from the home of the champions Kansas City Chiefs. They will look to build on a good win over the Baltimore Ravens in their first match when they welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to Arrowhead in what a number of judges had as the AFC Championship game this season. The Bengals had a terrible loss to New England last week and need to be a lot better to get anything from this one.

Two other games take place in the late slots and we have our first divisional match in the NFC West as one of them where the Arizona Cardinals will look to build on a creditable performance in defeat last week when they host a Los Angeles Rams side who were downed in overtime by the Detroit Lions a week ago. The other match sees the Denver Broncos going in search of a first win on the season when the Pittsburgh Steelers make their way to Colorado looking for a second win in as many weeks to open up their campaign.

Betting

One bet which stands out to me in the Sunday games comes late on as the Denver Broncos host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a match in which the only way I can see it being high scoring is if the defences do most of the point tallying. Denver offered so little on offense last week that I can’t believe they are going to get much joy from a defence which is certainly in the conversation for the best in the competition but the Pittsburgh offense looked like a work in progress last week too.

While Denver clearly have a lot of issues to address offensively, their defence certainly kept them in the game last week and can do so again. Four of the 20 points that Denver scored against Seattle came through safeties and the only touchdown they scored was when the game had got away from them. Pittsburgh could only muster 18 points against the Falcons last week so while I expect the Steelers to win here there is nothing to suggest they will score enough to take the total over 37pts. I’ll play the under.
