NFL 2024 – Week 5 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

Once the NFL 2024 action is done in London we have the remainder of the NFL Sunday early games for Week 5. This is the first week that teams are on a bye so we have a reduced number of matches to concentrate on.

Despite that, we still have the usual schedule in the UK to enjoy in terms of two live TV games in full as well as all the big plays which will be available to see on the RedZone show. Some bookmakers stream the games which aren’t live in the UK in full too.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The TV game for us to enjoy in the UK in the first set of games is a clash in the AFC North as the Cincinnati Bengals play host to the Baltimore Ravens in a match where both teams will be looking to click into gear for the season after a bit of a slow start. There are five other matches in the earlier slot of which two of them are divisional clashes with the Jacksonville Jaguars looking for a first win of the campaign when they host their AFC South rivals Indianapolis Colts while in the AFC East the New England Patriots take on the Miami Dolphins.

That leaves us with three other matches in the first part of the day where the one which has the most intrigue about it is the one between the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills, two sides who will have their sights on not just reaching the playoffs but having a deep run should they get there. Chicago Bears look to have a solid chance of picking up another win when they host the Carolina Panthers while the Cleveland Browns head to the surprise package of the Washington Commanders in the other game.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are four matches in the later slot on Sunday with the TV one for us in the UK to take in coming in the NFC West where the San Francisco 49ers have the chance to showcase their talents against a divisional rival in the Arizona Cardinals. Both teams have been slower out of the traps than they would have wanted to be this season so this will be a contest that both will be eager to win, not least the 49ers who have already lost one divisional game this season and won’t want to go 0-2 in the West.

Three other matches take place with another divisional clash coming in the AFC West where the Denver Broncos play host to the Las Vegas Raiders. One of the better matches of the day could come at SoFi Stadium where the Green Bay Packers will look to rebound from their loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers. The other match sees the Seattle Seahawks looking to keep up their pace in front in the NFC West when they welcome the New York Giants to Lumen Field.

Betting

This isn’t a card which presents a lot of bets to be honest but I am prepared to take one match which comes in the clash at the SoFi Stadium where I think the Green Bay Packers are worth taking in a field goal game against the Los Angeles Rams. To be fair to the Rams, they have beaten the San Francisco 49ers in this building this season but they have lost their two key weapons in the passing game in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua and their offense just looks off. They have injuries on the offensive line as well which doesn’t help matters and the Packers can feed on that.

Green Bay were beaten on the return of Jordan Love last week after the Minnesota Vikings raced into a 28-0 lead but once the returning quarterback got his rhythm after his injury the Packers put up 29 points against a side who are unbeaten this season. The Packers are solid defensively and have the ammunition to take advantage of a weak Rams’ run defence. Matt Stafford is doing all he can for this offense but it is just lacking stability and weapons and I expect the Packers to have way too much for it.
