The final match of a busy Sunday in the NFL 2025 season takes us to Lincoln Financial Field for a battle between the top two seeds in the NFC last term as the Super Bowl winners Philadelphia Eagles host the Detroit Lions in the Sunday Night Football.
Both of these sides are battling it out to try and get the number one seed in the Conference this season too and one will do their chances the world of good while the other will have their hopes dented with a defeat.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are putting up a decent defence of their title and with a 7-2 record they will be looking to have a strong second half of the campaign to lock in the number one seed as they seek a spot at the Super Bowl once again. Things probably haven’t been quite as convincing or as dominant for the Eagles this season as it was in the last one but they are winning matches and that is all that counts for now. Good teams improve as a campaign goes on and that is the task for Philadelphia.
Somewhat surprisingly it has been the offense which hasn’t really delivered the goods so far this term. The Green Bay Packers are the only team with a winning record in the NFC who have put up less points than the Eagles through nine games and when you consider the ease with which Philadelphia were scoring last season, that is something they will want to improve on. In the main the defence has begun to come to the party, which is no bad thing.

Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions had a brilliant season last term, earning themselves the number one seed in the NFC, but they couldn’t convert that into a Super Bowl appearance so they will be looking to secure another postseason berth to attempt to make it to the Super Bowl this time around. They were helped in that quest by the Eagles beating Green Bay last week and now they will want to use Philadelphia again to strengthen their position in the NFC North standings.
The Lions will have to do this without their star tight end Sam Laporta which might be significant because he is a key part of the Detroit offense and you would imagine that if the Lions are going to win this one it will be a bit of a shootout. Detroit go into this one with a 6-3 record with two of those losses coming in their last four matches so they will be looking for a standout performance in this one to get themselves back on track and lay a bit of a marker down in case these two meet again in January.
Betting
I would expect the Philadelphia Eagles to win this match but that was a tough battle they had in Green Bay on Monday night and as a result of that there could be a bit of tiredness lingering the longer this one goes on and Detroit certainly have the danger to take advantage of that if Philly are flat at any point. I thought about taking the points as a result but the Eagles offense isn’t exactly flowing so in the end it is a player prop bet for me in this one.
With Sam Laporta out, Jameson Williams could get more action in this match. He comes into this one off the back of his best performance of the season against Washington last week where he caught six passes for 119 yards. His two matches prior to that he finished with 66 yards so there is a good chance that Williams will put up a big number here. He has a receiving yards line of 53.5 which based on those three recent performances looks low, especially with a potential for more action so I’ll take the over on that line.
