The second half of action in the Monday Night Football in Week 7 of the NFL 2025 season takes us to Lumen Field as the Seattle Seahawks play host to the Houston Texans to close out what has been another dramatic set of matches.
The Seattle Seahawks have already seen their divisional rivals Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers win this weekend so they will be looking to reply in kind here while Houston Texans will return from their bye week hoping to level up their ledger.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks begin the week 4-2 for their season and a win here will see them join the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers with a 5-2 record and set up a tasty final two-thirds of the season in the NFC West. When you consider that this is the first campaign in yonks that they have been without Pete Carroll as head coach, they have to be given a lot of credit for the start that they have made to the campaign and will hope to consolidate that here.
It isn’t just a new coach that is at Lumen Field. Sam Darnold has arrived as the starting quarterback and while there is a familiarity with him and the new coach Mike McDaniels, they have picked up very well to start off with, not least because there is no DK Metcalf in this part of the world now. The Darnold partnership with Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a very potent one already and the Seahawks will be hoping that combination flourishes again here and if it does then with the strength of the Seattle defence they will be expected to win the game.

Houston Texans
The Houston Texans made a very slow start to the season, losing their opening three matches. The defeats to the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wouldn’t have overly concerned them with those two among the better sides in the league but the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars definitely would have done. To their credit, they took stock and came out and won their next two, against a weak Tennessee side and a Baltimore Ravens without Lamar Jackson, but then came their bye week, potentially at the wrong time.
C.J. Stroud has come alive in the last two matches and the Texans have had a couple of weeks to work out how they want to play moving forward, particularly in light of the fact that there will be no Christian Kirk at their disposal for this one. That is likely to lead to more action for Nico Collins. The good thing for the Texans is that their defence is performing pretty well. They haven’t conceded more than 20 points in any of their matches although that record will be tested here.
Betting
I would expect the Seattle Seahawks to win this match but I’m always a little reluctant to go against teams who come off their bye because they are fresh and have had a couple of weeks to prepare for the match. I wouldn’t want to take the Houston Texans on anything less than a three point handicap so that ensures that I leave the match betting alone and head to the side markets for a punt and it is a player prop which catches my eye.
That comes in the form of the rushing yards of C.J. Stroud where the line is 16.5 which feels quite low for a quarterback who is mobile, who is missing his number two receiver and who will probably need to use his legs at times to move the chains and extend drives. Seattle haven’t really played many mobile quarterbacks this season but Kyler Murray would be one and he rushes for 30 yards from five carries against them. Stroud has covered this line in four of the five matches he has played this season with the one he didn’t being a walkover win over the Tennessee Titans. This isn’t likely to develop that way so I’ll take the Houston triggerman to get to 17 yards with his legs in this one.
