The latest week of NFL 2025 action concludes as ever with the Monday Night Football which takes us to Gillette Stadium for the clash between the AFC East leaders New England Patriots and a struggling New York Giants side.
The Patriots are leading their division and will take a huge step towards the AFC East title with a win here. The Giants have struggled throughout the campaign and all they have to look forward to from here is next season.
New England Patriots
You could be forgiven for thinking we have gone back to the NFL 2015 season rather than the 2025 one with the way the New England Patriots are going about their business. They are 10-2 for the season and aren’t just looking to win the AFC East title from here but they are currently in control of the number one seed for the AFC, which with six weeks of the season left is very much the position they want to be in, even if it is an unexpected one for them.
The Patriots will need to win here to keep control of that number one seed but they go into this match off the back of nine straight wins and another here would send them into their bye week full of confidence. The Patriots are really delivering the goods on offense even though you wouldn’t suggest that they have the most powerful weapons in the league. They have conceded a few points recently on defence but it hasn’t made a difference to the result.

New York Giants
This has been a wretched season for the New York Giants and already their sights are going to be on drafting early when the draft comes around next season. They currently occupy the third worst record in the NFL and it is hard to see that improving much over the remainder of the campaign unless something dramatic happens. The Giants have lost seven of their last eight matches and have got into that position no team likes in that it looks like they have forgotten how to win.
To be fair to them, their offense has put up 20 points or more in all of those games so it doesn’t take a genius to work out where they need to find some improvement from. An inability to finish matches off in the fourth quarter is really costing the Giants. They have surrendered four fourth quarter leads so their 2-10 record could easily be 6-6 and things would be looking a little different. Injuries aren’t helping them but better clock management would really help.
Betting
I don’t really like betting on these sorts of matches because they can quickly turn into a blowout and then all sorts of weird stuff can happen. To be fair though, the New York Giants have been more competitive than their record suggests and hopefully they can remain competitive enough here for long enough for the key players to deliver the goods. One of those players is TreVeyon Henderson, the New England Patriots running back who isn’t slowing down yet.
He might have to share carries with Rhamondre Stevenson but he goes up against the worst rushing defence in the NFL and with the game state having the New England Patriots in front by a touchdown and more, you would imagine that they are going to utilise their running game at every opportunity. The Giants defence is averaging 5.9 yards per carry against them on the ground so if Henderson performs to that average then his 63.5 rushing yards line needs 11 carries to be covered. Even with Stevenson back, Henderson had 18 carries last week and if he is anywhere near that number here he should cruise to the required 64 yards.
