NFL 2025 – New York Jets @ New England Patriots Tips and Betting Preview

We have reached Week 11 of the NFL 2025 season and it gets underway with an AFC East dust up on the Thursday Night Football when the New England Patriots play host to their rivals New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.

The New England Patriots currently lead the way in the AFC East and will actually go into the number one seeding in the Conference with a win here. It is already about next season for the Jets with the bonus of spoiling a party of two along the way if they can.

New England Patriots

There was expected to be an improvement in the New England Patriots this term but whether anyone had them down as having an 8-2 record 10 weeks into the season I would have my doubts. They were expected to be the closest challengers to the Buffalo Bills but as we meander towards the final third of the regular season, they could be engineering a position where they are going to be difficult to be passed at the top of the division, particularly if they can win here.

The Patriots have won their last seven matches so they are on fire under the quarterback play of Drake Maye. That is probably the biggest surprise with this New England side, that they are suddenly a potent offense. At the beginning of the season it was largely their defence which was getting them by but with every passing week their offense is getting stronger and stronger and on the run that they are on, you would expect the Patriots to present a strong challenge on a short week.

New York Jets

While the New England Patriots have been surprising people all season, the same can’t be said of the New York Jets who once again are increasingly flattering to deceive and at 2-7 for their year are already beginning to think about draft picks for next term, although to be fair to them those two wins have come in their last two outings so they are offering a bit of fight, although in the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns they have just beaten two sides ravaged by injury.

The big surprise about the Jets this season is that it is their defence which has let them down in a lot of those losses. They have conceded 27 points or more in six of their nine matches and their offense isn’t really built to be winning shootouts. As it is, they have put up 66 points offensively in their last two matches so that side of the ball might be coming to the party, which is no bad thing, even if there is a strong case of it being too little too late in terms of being competitive this season.

Betting

I always maintain that these Thursday night matches are trappy ones to bet on because they don’t seem to follow any logic whatsoever but I would still be surprised if we see anything other than a win for the New England Patriots. To be fair to the New York Jets, they have won their last two matches but they go up in quality of opponent here and on a short week this looks like a tough assignment. The thing to decide is how to go about getting involved in this one and I think I’ve found a way in.

The Jets have had a bit of a lopsided schedule so far. They have played six home matches and only three on their travels and those road games have seen them concede 29 points in Tampa Bay, 27 in Miami and 38 in Cincinnati and on a short week in New England with two key wheels in their defence recently traded away you would expect them to concede in that ballpark again. New England have scored over 27.5 points in three of their last four matches and with the opposing defence likely to tire I like the idea of New England covering that line again.
