NFL – Chicago Bears at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

The last game of the latest NFL Sunday sees the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Chicago Bears at the AT&T Stadium in the Sunday Night Football. After facing and failing miserably against one rookie quarterback from the East last week, Chicago face another one here hoping for a change in fortune.

Dallas rookie Dak Prescott picked up his first win as an NFL starter when they knocked off division rivals Washington Redskins last week and now he will be looking for his first win at home in what looks a favourable match up.

Dallas Cowboys

In fairness to Prescott he could easily have two wins to his name already this season but the New York Giants came back and touched off the Cowboys by a single point in week one but there was no stopping the Cowboys in Washington last week despite the rookie Ezekiel Elliott coughing up the ball a couple of times.

Dallas’ strengths and weaknesses are plainly obvious and nobody is going to be surprised by them. Their offensive line will open up large running lanes all season while their own defence offers little threat to a quarterback and the back field isn’t as strong as it could be.

Chicago Bears

The Bears have been to Houston and hosted Philadelphia in their opening two matches and never threatened a win in either and now they have lost their number one quarterback Jay Cutler to injury so as starts to seasons go this one has been shocking for the Bears.

Their defence looks woeful at the minute. Running backs have gone mad on them and their secondary and back field are looking the aging unit that they are. On the flip side of that they have shown signs on offense but the lack of protection for their quarterback is so bad that even this weak Dallas defence might get to Brian Hoyer.

Betting

I can understand the school of thought that backing a rookie quarterback to cover a fairly sizeable handicap isn’t the right play at this stage of the season but I’ve seen nothing from Chicago so far this season to suggest it isn’t the way to go.

Dallas Cowboys have been solid with the ball and they have disguised their failings in defence and you would think they are only going to improve especially offensively as Prescott gets more comfortable in his surroundings and gains more trust from the coaching staff and his receivers alike.

Chicago’s defence was bashed up on Monday night and this Dallas O-line could do it some major damage here so I’m expecting Dallas to run all over the Bears and run out winners by more than the 6.5pts which is currently the handicap.
