NFL – Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview

We have reached Week 10 of the NFL season and it begins in Baltimore on Thursday night as the Baltimore Ravens host their AFC North rivals Cleveland Browns in the curtain raiser to the week.

The Ravens’ win over Pittsburgh last week took them top of the division and they have the perfect opportunity to pile more pressure on the Steelers when they welcome the only side in the NFL yet to win a match.

Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore might be 4-4 for the season but I’m not convinced with them. I think they are pretty overrated really and although credit must go to them for winning last week we shouldn’t ignore the fact that they caught Ben Roethlisberger at the right time with him just returning from injury.

It isn’t the Ravens’ defence that we need to be concerned with though it is their offense. The numbers they are putting up are little short of pathetic and Joe Flacco is one of few quarterbacks with more picks than touchdown passes. They can’t seem to get anything going in terms of running the ball either so how they are 4-4 for the campaign is beyond me!

Cleveland Browns

If the Ravens are unconvincing the Browns are quite simply awful. In fairness when you look down their roster from an offensive point of view there is a little bit of talent in their ranks in the form of Terrelle Pryor, Duke Johnson, Corey Coleman and Isaiah Crowell but for whatever reason they can’t seem to stop sides.

Defensively they look to have regressed and they come into this match off the back of a horrendous loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are going really well at the minute, let us not forget that, but the ease that Cleveland made Dallas’ win was very concerning and if they don’t win here and go 0-10 talk will inevitably intensify over the imperfect season.

Betting

Baltimore are the clear and significant favourites for this match and I don’t think there is any disputing that but I’m not at all comfortable in taking them to cover a 9.5pt spread. That said I’m in no rush to be backing Cleveland with any handicap so it is to the side markets I head for a punt here.

I’m led to the receiving yards line for Mike Wallace, a line which almost defies belief in how low it is at 54.5. I’m not sure how this line has come about because the former Pittsburgh wideout has covered this comfortable in his last four matches. He has caught for 97, 120 and 124 yards in his last three matches and there is no way this Browns defence is as good as the Giants’, Jets’ or Steelers’ one. I’m expecting Wallace to go over that and way beyond.
