NFL: Monday Night Football – Cincinnati Bengals at New York Giants Betting Preview

The final match of week 10 of the NFL season comes from the MetLife Stadium just outside New York City as the New York Giants welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to town in a match which will have implications on both the divisions the two are sat in.

With Pittsburgh stuttering and Baltimore looking dodgy the Bengals suddenly have a chance to move through and make a move on the AFC North title while the Giants are in an NFC East division in which every side has a winning record so they can’t afford to slip up.

New York Giants

The Giants come into this match off the back of three wins in a row including a very impressive one against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. They are the only side to beat the Dallas Cowboys this season which shows how they can raise their game against the big sides and in the big matches. They’ll need to do that here.

New York have been solid on both sides of the ball but importantly they are getting Odell Beckham Jr back to producing the sort of stuff he was doing when they first came onto the scene and he has carried them to a couple of wins. Defensively they have been strong too especially against the run and they will need that again here.

Cincinnati Bengals

This will be the Bengals’ first match since they tied with the Washington Redskins at Wembley two weeks ago so they will be refreshed and have had plenty of time to prepare for this match. They have put back to back unbeaten matches together, a run they will be hoping to extend in this one.

Unlike in seasons gone by the Bengals’ defence has been a bit shoddy this season but their offense has accounted for that with Jeremy Hill and AJ Green having big seasons. They are well supported by the likes of Giovani Bernard and Tyler Eifert. We’ve seen the Bengals involved in a surprising number of shootouts this season.

Betting

I’ve a feeling this one will be a shootout too. Both sides have elite receivers who need double covering and even that doesn’t guarantee they won’t catch passes but that opens up the rest of the field and these two quarterbacks are both capable of torching a defence.

The points line for this one is only 47.5 which looks a touch on the low side to me. The Bengals’ last three have gone over that line while the Giants’ last three home games have too. If there is still a thing that road sides raise their game in this wonderful stadium that only further goes towards a high scoring game. I like the overs.

I’m also going to take the overs on a very low receiving yards line. The line in question belongs to Will Tye and at 30.5 I think it is one he can cover. He is now the number one tight end after the issues with Larry Donnell and the Bengals have serious problems with tight ends. They surrendered 192 yards to them at Wembley while Gary Barnidge caught for 66 of Cleveland’s 182 passing yards the week prior to that and Rob Gronkowski burned this defence for a whopping 162 yards before that. That suggests Tye can cover this line.
