NFL: Monday Night Football – Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets Betting Preview

We head to the Big Apple for the Monday Night Football in the NFL this week as the New York Jets host the Indianapolis Colts in an all-AFC battle which is huge for the visitors. Indianapolis will go level with Houston and Tennessee in the South with a win here but the Jets won’t be giving them an easy night.

New York Jets

The Jets go into this match with a 3-8 record so in many ways they can play with a bit of freedom knowing full well that they won’t be involved in the postseason. It has been a year of what might have been for the Jets given that they come in here off the back of three defeats in a row but those losses combined add up to just 12pts.

New York need to find a way to score more points consistently because their defence isn’t playing bad football. They managed to keep the Patriots to just 22pts last week which is a decent effort so if they can find something and get it going on offense then they could end the season well and build something for next year.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts copped a bit of a hiding by the Pittsburgh Steelers last week in the conclusion to the Thanksgiving triple header but they can be excused that because they were without their starting quarterback Andrew Luck after he failed to recover from a concussion in time. He is back for them in this match.

The Colts go into the match with a losing record for the season now but a win here would move them to within half a game of the Texans in their division. TY Hilton is rated doubtful with a back injury here and his absence wouldn’t be ideal but if the Colts can protect Luck they will fancy their chances in this one.

Betting

The preparation for the Colts has been disrupted ahead of this match with problems with the plane taking them to New York so that isn’t ideal. That aside though this might not be the best match up for the Colts. Their lack of protection of Andrew Luck is embarrassing and against a decent defence up front that could count against them.

Indianapolis give up a lot of big plays on defence so I think the New York Jets are a chance in this one. The Colts are the 25th ranked running defence which isn’t ideal on a night when rain is predicted. If the Jets can find some solid play on offense and avoid turning the ball over then the odd big play coupled with solid defence can earn them a rare win.
