NFL Playoffs – Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

We will find out who will face the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship match on Sunday evening when the number one seeds in the Conference, the Dallas Cowboys, host the Green Bay Packers in a mouth-watering playoff match at Cowboys Stadium.

By virtue of securing the number one seed the Cowboys know if they win they will host Atlanta for a place in the Super Bowl next week while the Packers’ road to the showpiece match goes through a trip to Georgia if they win this one.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys were comfortably the best side in the NFC this season. Their success was built around the two high class rookies Dak Prescott at quarterback and the running back Ezekiel Elliott but postseason is a much different beast to the regular season and it will be interesting to see how the two perform in their first playoff encounter.

One area of concern throughout the season for the Cowboys has been their defence, especially their secondary. That is regularly put under pressure due to the lack of a pass rush and the back field is sure to be tested here by arguably the best quarterback in football at the present time.

Green Bay Packers

Courtesy of coming from nowhere to win the NFC North the Green Bay Packers were able to secure home advantage in taking on the New York Giants in the opening round of the playoffs last week. The Giants were dispatched with the minimum of fuss and now Green Bay will be eyeing up a quick fire NFC East double here.

Their defence has been underrated all season especially against the run although that will be tested to the full in this match. Their offense started the season looking quite ordinary but it has come good in the last couple of months and many people are now expecting them to make the Super Bowl. Jordy Nelson could be a big miss here.

Betting

All eyes will be on the Dallas Cowboys’ rookie duo and we’ll only truly know how well they will cope with the situation when the game is underway so in terms of a bet on the match I’m going to avoid needing the Cowboys to do anything and head to the Green Bay Packers’ total points.

The line is at 22.5 and when these two met earlier in the season the Packers only scored 16pts but their offense is in better form now and much better balanced with the emergence of Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael. In recent times Dallas have shipped 20pts or more to Washington, Tampa Bay and Detroit and I fancy the Packers to go beyond 23pts in this one.
