The Divisional round of matches in the NFL playoffs concludes in Kansas City after the AFC clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers was put back to the evening after a predicted snow storm in the area on Sunday.
That sets up what should be a cracking game even better though. The powerful Steelers offense takes on the excellent all-round skills of the Chiefs for the right to head to New England next weekend.
Kansas City Chiefs
There was a watershed moment in the Chiefs’ season and ironically it came against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kansas City were blown away in Pittsburgh in week four and since then they have won 10 of their 12 matches and have looked better and better all the time. Each time we see them they look more dynamic on offense which bodes well.
If the old adage of defences win championships rings true then the Chiefs will fancy their chances of at least making it to the Super Bowl because they probably have the best defence of the three sides left in the AFC. They will go turnover hunting here and any they get could prove to be the difference in this one.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Had it not been for an injury to Ben Roethlisberger midway through the season and Le’Veon Bell missing the first part of the season due to suspension it could easily be the Steelers hosting the Chiefs in this match and that could have been significant because Pittsburgh have been an awful lot better at home this season than they have away.
The three B prong attack of Big Ben, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell have been exceptional this season but their defence has improved as it has gone along. Some unknown or lesser known players have stepped up at the right time too and they will need to do so again here for the Steelers to head to next week alive.
Betting
The snow and storms that have been forecast have seen the points line dip to 44.5pts and while logic would dictate that conditions might make this a lower scoring game we have two sides who gobble up the yards in batches so I fancy a fair few trips to the opponents territory.
I don’t think either side will be too inconvenienced by the conditions. They’ve both played in tough conditions regularly so I think we will see more than 44.5pts in this one. I’m also going to take the receiving line of Travis Kelce. It is at 60.5 yards but this guy is a huge part of the Chiefs offense.
Kelce is dealing in 100 yard matches at the minute and with the Chiefs’ run game not really getting started from a traditional sense this season I fancy Alex Smith might need to get this done through the air. If he does it will be Kelce he targets the most. Kelce is the best tight end in football at the minute and he should go well over that 60.5 yards line.
