NFL: Sunday Night Football – Green Bay Packers at Washington Redskins Betting Preview

This week’s Sunday Night Football comes from DC as the Washington Redskins take on the fast fading Green Bay Packers in what is suddenly a huge match for both sides. Washington know their route to the playoffs is as a wildcard so they need as many wins as possible while Green Bay need to arrest their slump as soon as possible.

Washington Redskins

It has been a lively few weeks for the Redskins. They went to London three weeks ago and played out a tie against the Cincinnati Bengals when they showed they could battle from behind and then out of the bye week they saw off the Minnesota Vikings and now go in search of a quick double over NFC North teams.

One of the reasons why the Redskins go into this match with a winning record on the season is their defence and in particular their pass rush which has got to the quarterback and generated sacks 25 times on the season. Kirk Cousins is doing little wrong and they have a nice balance to their offense with Jamison Crowder having a big year.

Green Bay Packers

What began as a blip has now entered a full on slump for the Green Bay Packers. At the beginning of the season it was their offense that was stumbling and costing them wins and now their defence is getting torched and that is troubling them massively so the Packers urgently need both sides of the ball to be counted.

Injuries haven’t helped Green Bay it has to be said and they are lacking men in defence while they haven’t been able to run the ball either since Eddie Lacy’s injury. They have signed Christine Michael on waivers to fill that spot so we might see them try to run the ball a lot more in this match.

Betting

You’ve got to like the Washington Redskins in this match. Green Bay’s defence has just been burnt by the Tennessee Titans and the Redskins have enough balance on offense to have as much fun against them in this one.

Green Bay have struggled to run the ball all season and while they should fare better with the addition of Michael they will need to find a real output from that against this solid Washington pass defence. Green Bay could ride the back of an Aaron Rodgers masterclass at any time but those performances haven’t been looking like coming so I’m with the home side in this one.
