NFL: Sunday Night Football – Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos Betting Preview

The final match of another great Sunday of NFL action comes from Mile High Field as the Denver Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs in a huge Sunday Night Football for both sides. The size of the match clearly hasn’t been lost on NBC who have binned their original choice to pick this one up.

The reason it is so big is assuming Oakland Raiders win earlier in the night only the winners of this match are likely to be able to challenge them for the AFC West title and the potential chance to host a playoff match.

Denver Broncos

The reigning champions go into this match off the back of the bye week and while they are 7-3 for the season they could easily be going into the week having lost their last two matches as New Orleans lined up a kick to beat them two weeks ago only to see it blocked and taken back to the end zone for a remarkable Denver win.

The Denver offense isn’t as potent as it has been in previous seasons although they are much more effective under Trevor Siemian than they were when he was out but by and large you get the feeling if the Broncos are to win the match then they are going to need their defence to weigh in with big plays.

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City head into this match off the back of a surprising defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week and with Oakland looking so good back to back wins could be decisive for their chances of winning the division so this is a huge match for Alex Smith and his side.

The Chiefs tend to win a lot of tight matches which speaks volumes of their ability under pressure and that could be a big thing to take into this match. Just like Denver their offense isn’t powerful or explosive but it is solid but it is on defence where a lot of their matches are either won or opened up.

Betting

Looking at the two sides there doesn’t appear to be much between the two teams. Both have identical records going into the game, both have solid offenses with safe quarterbacks rather than explosive ones and both have defences that stand up and make big plays so you get the feeling there isn’t going to be much in this one.

I think this is the sort of match that will be won by a field goal or less so the Kansas City Chiefs with the 3.5pt head start is the way to go and given the quality of these two defences I’m also happy to be on under 39.5pts in what should turn into quite a defensive battle.
