NFL: Sunday Night Football – Seattle Seahawks at New England Patriots Betting Preview

The final match of a busy Sunday in the NFL comes from the Gillette Stadium as the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks go into battle in a repeat of Super Bowl 49. That match epically went the way of the Patriots so Seattle will be out for revenge.

Both sides head into the match in control of their division which emphasises that these are two of the best teams in the NFL so we should be in store for another classic confrontation between them.

New England Patriots

There is a very easy argument to be made that the Patriots should be perfect for the season. Their only defeat in their eight matches was when they were employing their third choice quarterback. Apart from that shutout against the Buffalo Bills the Patriots have been thoroughly dominant all season.

Even injuries haven’t disrupted New England too much. Tom Brady missed matches through suspension earlier in the season but they have also been without the likes of Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman through injury. Their return has only made their dominance even more emphatic. Putting it simply they are going well.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle come in here off the back of the short week after competing in the Monday Night Football so that is against them but they are big enough to not use that as an excuse and they will be bang up for this as I’m sure the Super Bowl defeat still grates with them and hurts them badly.

While the schedule isn’t ideal for Seattle they will be buoyed by the performance of Russell Wilson in their win over Buffalo on Monday night. It looked like the old Russell Wilson again with his mobility much better and his passing bang on the money. Add to that the fact that Jimmy Graham finally showed his best form and the Seahawks shouldn’t be underestimated here even in the lion’s den.

Betting

I’m looking forward to this one. This looks the best Sunday Night Football of the season and I’m sure it will live up to the spectacle. I understand why New England are the warm favourites but I’m not convinced there will be much between the two teams.

I do think both offenses will function well in this match. I know that logic dictates this will be a tight battle with the Seattle defence as good as it is and Belichick being the master of stopping opposing sides but I’m going against the grain here.

I’m not sure anyone can stop this New England offense, not even this Seattle defence but the good thing for the Seahawks is they have a number of ways of getting their offense into the game and a top notch quarterback. I think we’ll see more than the 48.5pts that the line currently stands at.
