NFL – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

A busy Sunday in the NFL ends with a barnstormer of a match in the Sunday Night Football this week as the best team in the NFC welcome a fast improving potential playoff rival when the Dallas Cowboys host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Cowboys may win the NFC East earlier in the day should the New York Giants lose but if they win a win in this match will still secure the division for the Cowboys. Tampa Bay have their eyes on their own division in the South and need to keep winning to keep on Atlanta Falcons’ coattails.

Dallas Cowboys

It was going to come at some point but after the defeat to the New York Giants, who remain the only side to beat them this season, last week questions are starting to be asked of the rookie Dak Prescott. That is a little unfair but with Tony Romo kitted out on the sidelines it is inevitable talk of a quarterback change will come.

There has been no indication that the Cowboys will change their starting quarterback so it will be interesting to see how Prescott responds here. The one thing we can guarantee is that he has the offensive weapons to get critics off his back. The key to the match from the Dallas point of view is whether their defensive backfield can stand up and be counted.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The revolution is well underway in Tampa Bay. A good young side is starting to make good strides in the league and they will head to Texas with five wins in a row under their belt. While Jameis Winston is one of the reasons for that their defence needs to be acknowledged. It is playing excellent football at the minute.

The defence has restricted three pretty powerful offenses in New Orleans, San Diego and Seattle to just 37pts in their last three matches and if they can continue playing with such authority on that side of the ball then it will set up every chance to be the second team to beat the Cowboys this season.

Betting

I have to say I’m really looking forward to this match and we will indeed find out a lot about the Dallas Cowboys here. We’ll also find out about the Bucs as well. Whenever two good sides with confidence about them meet it is a good occasion and on primetime as well we should get a high quality game.

I’ve a feeling the handicap is a shade big on Tampa Bay but in truth there isn’t much in it either way so my bet will come in the player markets here with the leading running back on the season the man I’m focusing on.

Ezekiel Elliott is enjoying a superb rookie season and is still averaging over 100 rushing yards a match so his rushing yards line of 91.5 here looks a touch on the generous side. Only once since week two has Elliott not covered this line and that wasn’t against one of the best defences in the league in Minnesota. He ran for 97 yards against the watertight Baltimore Ravens and against a Tampa Bay defence surrendering over 100 yards a game on average I’m confident Elliott will reach 92 yards here.
