NFL – Week 8 Sunday DFS Fantasy Breakdown

Week 8 of the 2016 NFL Season is underway. There is another $1m up for grabs with our official fantasy partners at Draftkings when playing DFS Fantasy Football.

Here are our picks that may guide you towards that huge first prize.

Quarterbacks

PICK – Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay) $7,900

It has been an un-Rodgers like season in 2016 but week 7 saw him looking sharper. The Packers play the Falcons this week in an NFC clash. The Falcons really struggle against the pass. They have a quick strike offence and their defence is on the field a lot. They are often in shootouts/high scoring games and this points to a big week for Rodgers.

PICK – Derek Carr (Oakland) $5,900

Carr never gets sacked (7 in 7 games) and seldom turns the ball over. The Buccaneers don’t have a strong pass rush meaning Carr will have lots of time to find his two top 15 WR’s – Amari Cooper & Michael Crabtree.

AVOID – Russell Wilson (Seattle) – $7,200

The matchup is favourable – the Saints are 28th vs the pass. However, Wilson is still slowed by the ankle injury and the Seahawks OL is possibly the worst in the NFL. I think he is solid here but not a top 10 QB and that’s a lot of money to select him.

Running-backs

PICK – Ezekial Elliott (Dallas) – $7,200

Yes, he is expensive but he is the NFL’s leading rusher in yards per game. Oh and he runs behind the best run blocking OL in the NFL. This is a crunch divisional clash with Philadelphia but I still like Elliott to get his yards.

PICK – Jacquizz Rodgers (Tampa Bay) – $5,800

Rodgers is coming off a big week in week 7 as a rusher. I think he will get decent rushing yards here but has more value as a pass receiver against the Raiders LB core that has struggled mightily.

PICK – Devontae Booker (Denver) – $3,700

Starts OJ Anderson is now on season ending IR. The Broncos were looking for ways to get the rookie Booker involved more in their offence prior to Anderson’s injury. Now he becomes the featured back in a week 8 matchup against 30th ranked San Diego.

AVOID – Mark Ingram (New Orleans) – $5,000

The Saints will struggle against the 8th ranked Seahawks rush defence. Ingram has power but not the speed to get extra yardage against Seattles LBers and Safeties.

Wide-receivers

PICK – Julio Jones (Atlanta) – $9,500

A lot of money for the NFLs best WR in 2016. He goes up against a banged up Packers secondary in week 8. The Falcons need to win following the shock against San Diego in week 7. Jones will have a huge game here.

PICK – Brandon Marshall (NY Jets) – $7,800

This is a little risky due to the massive inconsistency at QB. BUT – Marshall tends to perform best with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing the ball. The matchup here is good against a Cleveland team (ranked 23rd vs pass) that might be missing CB Joe Haden.

PICK – Ty Montgomery (Green Bay) – $5,300

Montgomery is questionable but offers value not just as a receiver but also as a runner. Last week Green Bay featured him a lot on the running game too with the injury to RB Eddie Lacy. He had 19 touches (10 catches and 9 rushes) in week 7.

AVOID – DeAndre Hopkins (Houston) – $7,400

‘Houston we have a problem’ and that problem is the play of the QB Brock Osweiller. Hopkins is a top 6 talent at the position but is handcuffed in this offence. You could include all the Texans WR here!

Tight Ends

PICK – Travis Kelce (KC) – $4,900

The Chiefs play the Colts in week 8. Indianapolis struggle against TEs (ranked 27th). Yes, the Chiefs tend to play a ball control type of offence but Kelce has the chance here against the Colts Safeties to have a big week.

PICK – Hunter Henry (San Diego) – $3,700

Henry will get his targets in this game as the strength of the Broncos passing attack is at CB not Safety or LB. San Diego are a team that like to pass the ball a lot and that means targets for all their receivers.

AVOID – Jason Witten (Dallas) – $3,600

Witten is questionable for Sundays game with the Eagles. He has not be a huge part in the Cowboys success thus far this season. The focus will be on running the ball and then hitting play action passes to the WR.

Defences

PICK – New England – $3,300

I don’t rate the Patriots defence that highly but they face a Bills team missing its two biggest weapons WR Sammie Watkins and RB LeSean McCoy. I think they can keep the Bills to around 13 points with a couple of takeaways.

AVOID – Gren Bay – $2,500

The NFLs second rated passing attack against a banged up Packers secondary. I don’t like this at all!
