Pakistan vs New Zealand – 3rd T20 Betting Preview

Pakistan won the T20 series with New Zealand on Friday evening but with an ODI series to follow later in the week they will be eager to complete another series whitewash when the two sides meet in the third and final T20 on Sunday.

Given that there are more limited overs matches to come on their tour, New Zealand will be eager to showcase their skills and get a win under their belts to take into what is becoming a fascinating looking set of ODIs.

Pakistan

This amazing run of form from Pakistan in T20s is showing no signs of ending and if they can win this match and maintain their dominance in the format it will set them up nicely for the ODIs to come. Sarfraz Ahmed doesn’t strike me as a captain who will allow his side to ease up now that the series is won. He certainly didn’t against Australia last week.

The difference between that series and this one has been the aggressive nature they have adopted with the bat. It hasn’t necessarily yielded much bigger scores but the one thing it has done is taken away the pressure which caught them out a couple of times in the series with Australia. As ever they can bat with freedom knowing their bowling attack will rarely get taken apart especially in these conditions.

New Zealand

I would imagine New Zealand will go into this final match feeling a little sorry for themselves that they are not still in this series. They will know they should have won the opening match and they got themselves into a position to win the second game as well. They are just not quite finishing matches off at the minute so it will be important for them to get over the line here to give them the extra belief for the ODI series to come.

One area New Zealand could do with tightening up in is at the death. Maybe not the last couple of overs but the period to set that up can improve. There are one or two batsmen that they would like to catch fire as well especially Colin de Grandhomme as he can propel a decent total into an amazing one which would be handy.

Team News

Pakistan have the series wrappd up so they might finally use this match to give Waqas Mahmood his debut. It might be time to take the youngster Shaheen Afridi out of the firing line and save him for another day.

New Zealand have two ways of approaching this. They can use their squad members to get them going for the ODI series or they can stick with what they have been using with the aim of getting a win under their belt. Mark Chapman could be used in either circumstance.

Betting

I’m expecting New Zealand to come out and go on the offensive in this match. They have nothing to lose now so if they can put a few thoughts in the minds of Pakistan heading into the ODIs then they will have taken something from the outing regardless of the end result. Perhaps one or two of their batsmen who have struggled in the conditions can play freely which would be no bad thing.

With that in mind I think over 9.5 sixes is the way to go here. Dubai is probably the only ground in the UAE where I would take the over in this market and actually the line isn’t that high when we think 11 sixes were hit in the opening match. Pakistan may rest a bowler or two which would do our chances no harm at all so all things being equal I like the over here.
