The second T20 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka takes place on Friday, just 24hrs after the opening game was played in Abu Dhabi. Pakistan drew first blood with a comfortable win on Thursday and they can win the series before they head home for the final match if they can repeat that victory.
Sri Lanka are going to need a significant improvement if they are to level the series and force a decider in Pakistan on Sunday. They are in can not lose territory from here on in.
Pakistan
Not for the first time over the last couple of weeks the Pakistan bowling attack set up a very good win for their side on Thursday. If you wanted to be critical then you could argue that their batting effort wasn’t the best but it didn’t need to be. We saw in the ODIs that they have plenty more to come from that unit if needed.
Pakistan are in a rich vein of form at the minute and not only are they beating this Sri Lanka side but they are doing it by big margins and that will give them plenty of confidence. I would imagine the whole squad are looking forward to playing in Pakistan again and they will be looking to go there with the series in the bag.
Sri Lanka
It doesn’t seem to matter what Sri Lanka do they just can’t seem to stem the quality of this Pakistan bowling attack. I didn’t think much to their batting order in the first game. A couple of players came in far too low down and had no chance to impact the game. If they are to have any chance here that is something that needs to be sorted.
If there was a positive from the first game then it came from their bowlers, which is a bigger thing than it sounds because by and large they offered little with the ball in the ODIs. They had no total to defend whatsoever but they dragged it out as long as they could and took some scalps to give them something to build on.
Team News
Pakistan only need to change their side if they want to try out combinations but you would think they would get the series won before they do that. I’m expecting Pakistan to be unchanged here.
Sri Lanka certainly need to change their batting order if they don’t change their side from a personnel point of view. Lahiru Gamage could come into the side if they want to change things.

Betting
We’ve seen enough of these two in limited overs now to suggest we are going to see much of the same. The Pakistan bowling attack was too good for a stronger Sri Lanka batting line up letting alone this particular string which looked well out of their depth in the opening T20.
I don’t see a lot changing and I don’t see where Sri Lanka suddenly score runs from so the 285.5 total runs line could look a touch high. Matches here are generally low scoring so even if we get a more competitive game there is no guarantee we see the line covered but with Sri Lanka batting line they are it is hard to see it threatened.
