PDC World Darts Championship 2026 – Day 17 Evening Session Tips and Betting Preview

The final session of darts of 2025 comes along at the PDC World Championship on Tuesday evening as we finalise the quarter final line up in the biggest event of the year with three more last 16 matches inside Alexandra Palace.

It is a night where the stars very much come out to play on Tuesday with no fewer than half of the men on show having won this tournament in the past along with three of the rising stars of the darts world for what looks a fantastic session of arrers.

Charlie Manby vs Gian van Veen

The opening match of the three on Tuesday evening sees two of the brighter young bucks in the world of darts taking to the stage when the last remaining non-tour card holder in the tournament, Charlie Manby, takes on the European Championship winner Gian van Veen.

This one has an interesting dynamic. Van Veen is here to be competing in the final on Saturday night whereas for Manby this could be considered his final. That is because if he wins this match he will be a tour card holder next season and will not have to go to q-school looking to achieve his professional status. Although there is £1 million at stake for winning this thing, you could easily argue this is the biggest match Manby is going to play this week. The good news for Manby is he comes in here off the back of his best performance so far in terms of his scoring power. A first nine average of 106.76 will have him competitive with anyone but 24% on the doubles against Evans isn’t going to stand up at this level. Van Veen probably didn’t have his best scoring levels against Madars Razma in the previous round but to be fair little was coming back until an inspired fourth set from the Latvian and then we saw the best of van Veen after that so you would have to think if and when he is pushed here he will have too much. The question is whether Manby can up his finishing to a level which has him competitive. His previous match saw him finishing at just under 50% so he needs to put the two together. I’m not going to guess if that is going to happen but we saw the Manby scoring power against Evans where he hit 11 180s in 24 legs. I do think Manby has it in him to win a set here so a 5.5 180 line from the Yorkshireman would be comfortable to achieve in that situation. One 180 per set and one on top isn’t asking much of a youngster these days but against Evans the sixth Manby 180 came in the fourth set. We’re guaranteed that many sets here and therefore I like the over on his personal line.

Michael van Gerwen vs Gary Anderson

The pick of the matches on Tuesday night and indeed the round of 16 is the one which puts two men with five world titles between them against each other when Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson battle it out for a spot in the quarter final.

These two men will have seen Josh Rock bite the dust in the afternoon session and therefore they will have seen the route to the semi-final open up a little more so a match which was sure to be competitive anyway between these two might just have got even more of a battle if that was possible. These sorts of pick ‘em matches are where I really should offer up a side of the coin to go with and advise people to get stuck in but anyone who has been on the journey with me throughout this tournament is sitting with a ticket for MVG to win this thing and suddenly we might only be a win here away from being an emphatic favourite in the quarter final. Anderson played very well in the previous round but I do still feel that MVG is warming up in this event. Matches between these two are always excellent to watch and I’ll be doing exactly that with a green MVG shirt on hoping he sets up a bumper opening to 2026 for us.

Luke Humphries vs Kevin Doets

The last darts match of 2025 will see the 2024 winner of this tournament, Luke Humphries, going up against the Dutch star Kevin Doets who dumped out the impressive Nathan Aspinall in the previous round and looks set to lay it down to ‘Cool Hand’ here.

While Doets has denied us what would have been a cracking contest between Humphries and Aspinall, the next best thing doesn’t look too shabby because Doets is scoring well enough to give the world number two some massive issues. He hit 11 180s against Aspinall and had a first nine scoring average of 104.91 and those numbers will have him very competitive here, as will the 45% on the doubles which accompanied it. Humphries was very good against Gabriel Clemens in the last round but he had to be because Clemens served it up to him. I expect a similar match here where Doets will bring the best out of Humphries and that best will be just too good for the Dutchman but on the way there I think we’ll get enough time for over 13.5 180s to land. Doets had 11 in 30 legs in the previous round so a shade over one in three while Humphries had eight in 26 at a similar rate. Combine the two and we’re looking at needing five close sets for this to cover but six sets and it looks a formality. I like the over with that in mind.
