The Premier League weekend continues on Saturday with another bunch of matches which is once again going to have a significant impact on events at the top and bottom of the table as well as the race for the top four.
As with all Saturdays we have a couple of televised matches to enjoy throughout the course of the day for those of us who are UK based. The other four matches will need the regular updates in the usual places.
Early Kick Off
The action begins at Elland Road where all eyes will be on Leeds United to see if they can patch up their leaky defence when they take on a Tottenham Hotspur side who might still be reeling from their loss at Burnley on Wednesday evening. Both these teams need the points for very different reasons so this should be a cracking way to get the day up and running, one which you would imagine would be littered with goals.
3pm Matches
There are four games in the traditional 3pm slot and with Arsenal not in action this weekend and West Ham not playing until Sunday, Manchester United have the chance to open up a four point gap in the race for fourth place. They will need a win to do that but given they host lowly Watford they will be expected to achieve that. That is a match which will have a big bearing on the bottom end of the table and another comes from Selhurst Park where Crystal Palace will look to halt the recent revival of Burnley who will be desperate for the three points which could take them out of the bottom three for a few hours at least.
That will happen for longer than that should Newcastle United come up short from their trip to the capital to take on Brentford. The Bees are plunging towards the relegation zone so they will be eager to halt the charge of the Toon Army and preserve their own Premier League status. The other 3pm match sees Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa looking to get their campaign back on track after a couple of indifferent results when they meet each other at the Amex Stadium.

Late Game
It is events at both ends of the table which will be the centre of attention on Saturday evening when the Goodison Park floodlights will shine bright as the champions roll into town when Everton play host to Manchester City. City will be looking to make up for their defeat at home to Tottenham last weekend while Everton will be desperate for some sort of result from this match to avoid dropping any deeper into relegation trouble so this should be a competitive finale to the day.
Betting
I usually go by the ‘don’t bet the early kick off’ mantra but I can’t help myself here because whichever way I look at the match between Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur I don’t see how goals don’t come along readily. We saw in midweek that there isn’t a lot left in the Leeds legs but they won’t be changing their style now so they are going to be vulnerable again. The good thing for them is that here they get to go at a defence which can be equally as leaky at times.
Tottenham can’t defend at all but they are going to be fired up for this match after the controversial comments of Antonio Conte and they look almost certain to feast on the ridiculous amounts of space Leeds leave themselves exposed in. The three Premier League games between these two since Leeds came back to the top flight have contained at least three goals. With the way these two teams are defending at present I expect at least that many if not more here.
