Preview

The two televised matches look absolutely huge in terms of the season as a whole. It begins at Carrow Road where Norwich City might be drinking in the last chance saloon in terms of their survival hopes when they host a Burnley side who gave themselves hope of beating the drop when they beat Everton on Wednesday night only to see the Toffees distance themselves from them once again on Saturday. Burnley winning this wouldn’t relegate Norwich but even the strongest Canaries fan would do well to see a way they can escape trouble. The big game of the day comes in the later kick off though where Manchester City will be looking to open up a four point gap at the top of the table when they host their title rivals Liverpool. The Reds will know that if they win the game they move two points clear with seven matches remaining. It is quite possible that neither team drop another point after this match so it feels huge.

There is a London derby to start out the afternoon action. That sees Brentford looking to build on their fantastic win over Chelsea last weekend when they host a West Ham United side who have to win to keep their Champions League hopes alive but who might be jaded after a touch night at the office on Europe on Thursday. The other match sees Leicester City hosting Crystal Palace where all eyes will be on the team sheets as the home side might have their eyes on their Thursday night Europa Conference League match and the visitors might have an up on their FA Cup semi-final next weekend.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount which stands out to me over the course of Sunday. I would have been tempted by goals at the King Power Stadium but the threat of seeing some reserve players getting a game with big matches for both teams to come puts me off that one and we saw on Wednesday night the impact a goal can have in a relegation battle so that makes the Carrow Road clash hard to bet on. I’ll end up with the one bet.

Manchester City are odds against to win a Premier League football match on home soil for just the fifth time in the Pep Guardiola era and if ever you are one to bet on value alone that is it. Liverpool are in great form there is no two ways about that but City don’t lose at home too often and they have a particularly good record in this fixture. It ended all square here last season behind closed doors but prior to that the previous three in the Premier League here finished 5-0, 2-1 and 4-0. Liverpool are a great side but when City turn it on nobody can match them. I’d back them at odds against at home regardless who they are playing and that’s the bet here.
