Premier League 2021-22 – Sunday 3rd April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Sunday when two more matches take place with the attention very much on the capital as both ends of the table come under the spotlight on a potentially pivotal afternoon of action.

Two sides who are chasing a finish in the top four play home matches against teams at the other end of the table so it will be interesting to see who comes out of the international break in the best shape throughout the day.

Where to watch

The two matches will be part of the Super Sunday show on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels with kick offs being at 2pm and 4.30pm.

West Ham United vs Everton (14.00)

The opening match of the day is huge for both teams involved as West Ham United go into a match they have to win to keep their top four hopes alive when they host an Everton outfit who need to start picking up points to avoid the drop.

West Ham have dropped off in their form in recent times so the international break probably came at a good time for them. They are a much better team than Everton though and generally raise their game in the bigger home matches so there is enough reason to think they can get back on track here. Everton went into the international break off the back of a Premier League win against Newcastle but there was nothing pretty about that and they followed it up by getting dumped out of the FA Cup at Crystal Palace. When you look at this match logically it should be a home win but I just wonder if the Hammers are turning all their attention towards the Europa League as the best way into the Champions League so at the prices I’m happy to let West Ham win if they are good enough.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United (16.30)

The second match of the afternoon comes from the other end of London as Tottenham Hotspur will look to put some pressure on their rivals Arsenal who don’t play until Monday night. They host Newcastle United who will be looking to recover from that terrible loss to Everton prior to the international break.

That was a second defeat in succession for the Magpies so they will have had to do well among their group over the break to enforce that their season isn’t over just because they have pulled away from the danger zone. To be fair to them they lost very late to both Chelsea and Everton so they could easily have got something from both on another day. Tottenham are improving nicely under Antonio Conte but what they haven’t added to their game is consistency. They will have to be consistently good between now and the end of the season if they are going to break into the top four. I like the idea of goals here. Tottenham aren’t in a position where they can play for draws anymore and I think Newcastle will be looking to entertain for the remainder of the season so the 5/6 on over 2.5 goals in this encounter appeals. Spurs could cover this on their own the way they are going forward these days but they’ll always give teams a chance defensively so I’ll take the over here.
