Preview

The two televised games are massive at both ends of the table. The first one to kick off sees Leeds United looking to come out of the bottom three after they dropped in there on Sunday. They will host a Chelsea side who they despise in what is sure to be a fever pitch atmosphere at Elland Road. Chelsea need a result to keep themselves on track for Champions League football next season. The other televised match will see Manchester City looking to move to within four points of retaining the Premier League when they head to a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who might not have given up on European football next season but who need to win their last three to have a chance of it.

There is a huge match away from the TV spotlight and that comes at Vicarage Road where already relegated Watford will host an Everton side who are looking to avoid joining the Hornets in the Championship next season. Frank Lampard’s men have come up with successive wins at the right time and a third here will ease their relegation fears, especially should Leeds lose. The other match is a dead rubber as Leicester City host already relegated Norwich City who look like they’ve had the fight beaten out of them.

Betting

I’m going to keep it fairly simple on Wednesday evening and just take over 2.75 goals in the match between Leeds United and Chelsea. This one doesn’t really need too much in the way of explanation but I’ll go with it anyway. Whenever Leeds come up against the better teams in the league they have a real tendency of getting drawn into a wide open match where goals flow at either end. They have already played one of those with the Blues when the two sides drew 3-3 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.

The top six have all been to Leeds with the exception of Chelsea and they have all scored three or more against them. I don’t see that trend changing here, especially when you consider that the home side are going to be patched up at right back after Luke Ayling lost his mind in London on Sunday. That means the likes of Marcos Alonso and Timo Werner could have a field day getting in down that side. There is the chance Chelsea could rest players for the cup final but they should still have plenty of attacking talent to get at this Leeds defence which isn’t good enough. Any Chelsea defensive changes will give Leeds encouragement going forward, as will a raucous atmosphere. Add in the need for both to get a result and a draw not really helping either too much I fully expect at least three goals here and quite possibly a few more.
