Premier League 2021-22 – Wednesday 19th January Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

There are two matches scheduled for the Premier League on Wednesday evening and assuming there are no late cancellations then the focus will very much be on the race for the Champions League places with two sides heavily in the mix on show.

Both these matches have been picked up by the TV companies covering the league so although you’ll need more than one device to watch them both as they clash throughout the evening, there is that option for those who have the chance.

Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur (19.30 – BT Sport 2)

The first match to kick off over the course of the night sees Leicester City playing host to a Tottenham Hotspur side who might well be reeling from losing the Carabao Cup semi-final last week. Both of these sides had their match postponed at the weekend so they should be fairly fresh.

This will be the first time Leicester have kicked a Premier League football for three weeks since they turned Liverpool over at the King Power Stadium while Spurs have only played in the league once in that time, although they have played three cup matches as well so they will probably be in the better place for this one. I’m not writing Leicester off though, although they are without a whole host of talent either through injury or being away at the Africa Cup of Nations. Tottenham are missing one or two as well but with the exception of Son Heung-min, they are generally in defensive areas. That is where Leicester are hit too so a fixture which has a history of plenty of goals, with a 6-1, 5-4 and 2-4 in the last five seasons, should continue that trend here.

Brentford vs Manchester United (20.00 – BT Sport 1)

The other match of the night comes from West London where Brentford will look to take it to another of the big names in the division in Manchester United, who really need a win if they are to start a push for the top four places.

Brentford are going along very nicely this term but have taken a couple of beatings in the last week away to Southampton and Liverpool so they are probably happy to be back on home soil where they perform much better. Man Utd might well be reeling from surrendering a 2-0 lead at Aston Villa on Saturday evening. They really haven’t convinced me on the road under Ralf Rangnick but there were a few big names rested on Saturday who might play here. The Brentford defence is getting penetrated a little too often for my liking and while I think they will get something from this game, that is enough of a concern to avoid betting on my hunch.
