Premier League 2021-22 – Wednesday 29th December Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

There are another two matches in the Premier League on Wednesday evening as we continue to play out the last round of games of 2021 in the top flight. Thankfully both matches look to have survived the Covid-19 issues that is hampering things.

The good thing is that both matches are live and in full on the Amazon Prime Video service, although if you want to watch them both in full you will need more than one device because the two games overlap at some point.

Chelsea vs Brighton and Hove Albion (19.30)

The opening match of the evening comes from Stamford Bridge where Chelsea will be looking to regain second spot in the table when they host a Brighton and Hove Albion side who are flying high in the top half of the table heading into 2022.

The pressure is all on Chelsea in this match. They have assembled a squad to win this league but if they lose here they could find themselves nine points adrift of the leaders heading into a new calendar year so they really have to win here. It won’t be easy though because Brighton don’t lose many but a lack of a spark in front of goal means that they probably don’t win as often as they should do for the quality of football that they play. I’d expect Chelsea to win this but they have been unconvincing over the last month. I definitely don’t trust Brighton to win so I’ll leave this one alone.

Brentford vs Manchester City (20.15)

The second match of the night sees the leaders Manchester City looking to continue what is appearing to be a saunter towards a successful defence of their title. They head to a Brentford side who started the season well but have seen their form flatten out a little bit.

Brentford have gone pretty well overall in their first season in the Premier League and you would imagine they will have more than enough to stay in the league so this is something of a free hit for them. We’ve seen against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea that they are not afraid of having a go against the big sides on this ground. I’m not sure that is a tactic that will serve them all that well but time will tell on that one. I think this is all about Man City and how many they want to win by. I keep on mentioning that Guardiola rotates his outfit well in these busy periods and he’s sure to do that again. Defensive changes would put me off backing City on huge handicap lines while I’m acutely aware there is another game on Saturday so when the game is comfortable they might ease up on the gas so the bet I’ll take is Gabriel Jesus to score anytime.

He didn’t play a single minute in the win over Leicester on Boxing Day so he is likely to be in from the start and with this Brentford defence beginning to leak a little oil he’s just the kind of player to take advantage. Admittedly the Brazilian hasn’t scored in the Premier League since September but I expect him to play through the middle here and find the net at some point.

Tips

Back G.Jesus to score anytime for a 2/10 stake at 2.40 with Coral
