The Premier League weekend concludes with three matches on a Monday in which the spotlight is very much on the lower end of the table with four of the bottom five in action on what could be a pivotal day in the campaign.
Two of the three matches are live on the TV in the UK and there are plenty of other places to be updated on the other game so there is no reason not to sit back and enjoy a bank holiday of top flight action.
Fulham vs Leicester City (15.00)
The first match of a manic Monday is the one which doesn’t have the TV cameras in the UK on it as Leicester City are the first team in the bottom four getting the chance to better their survival chances when they travel to the capital to take on Fulham.
Fulham have come off the boil since their safety was confirmed and they now go into this match off the back of three straight defeats. In that same period, Leicester have gone unbeaten in three matches and if they can win here they would go a long way to securing their Premier League status given their goal difference. To be fair to Fulham, their last two defeats were to Liverpool and Manchester City and they put up a solid enough effort so I don’t think they’ve thrown the towel in on their season. Leicester clearly have more to play for here but that comes with more pressure so while I would probably want to be on them if I was betting on this match it isn’t one I’m rushing to get involved in.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Everton (17.30 – BT Sport 1)
The first of the two televised matches comes from the Amex Stadium as Brighton and Hove Albion continue their pursuit of European football when they host an Everton side who will be looking to bolster their survival chances.
Brighton will be looking to build on their win over Manchester United on Thursday evening and having seen that opponent lose again on Sunday night, if they can win this they will be five points off of a place in the top four and would still have another game in hand to draw even closer. Everton begin the game in the bottom two of the division and only a win will get them out of the relegation zone but they are now nine without a win after a bright opening under Sean Dyche. Everton were involved in that crazy game against Leicester last week which suggests that they are going to look to be more positive and win matches but they are going to struggle to do that against Brighton. You get the impression that if Brighton convert a fair percentage of their chances they will win this comfortably but they might have some heavy legs after Thursday and they are plenty short enough so I’ll leave this one alone.
Nottingham Forest vs Southampton (20.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The final match of Monday comes from the City Ground where two of the bottom three meet in a huge clash as Nottingham Forest play host to Southampton in a match which neither can afford to lose and a draw is probably no use to either of them too.
To be fair, I think Southampton are down whether they win this match or not but they are definitely drinking in the last chance saloon and I’ve got to think that they are going to be prepared to take some risks as a result of that. That might play into the hands of Nottingham Forest who might also pull the trigger on a more positive setup in order to pick up the win they need in the one match they have surely targeted for three points. Forest tend to play well at home. Six of their seven wins have come here but the first goal in this match is massive because even an equaliser is no use to either of them, they would then need a winner. That makes me think both teams are going to release the shackles here and at odds against over 2.5 goals looks a good bet to me. I’m certain the chances will come readily so if both can find a clinical edge this could turn into a game not too dissimilar to last week between Leicester and Everton.
