The truncated Premier League weekend continues on Saturday when we are down to just five matches due to the FA Cup quarter finals taking place this weekend and other teams backing up a day after European exploits on Thursday night.
That means we only have one match on the TV on Saturday as opposed to the traditional two. The other four matches will get the usual updates in all of the normal places throughout the afternoon as always.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated – UK TV in brackets)
Aston Villa v AFC Bournemouth
Brentford v Leicester City
Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds United
Chelsea v Everton (17.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

We have to wait until the final match of the day for the TV action to come along and when it does Chelsea will look to build on a positive period when they welcome relegation threatened Everton to Stamford Bridge with the away side looking to pull away from the drop zone with a win. There is one match which will impact proceedings at both ends of the table when rock bottom Southampton host Tottenham Hotspur at St Mary’s Stadium.
Three other matches take place on Saturday afternoon and they will all impact events at the bottom of the table. Leeds United are second from bottom starting the day and they make the trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a game both teams will be looking for points to ease relegation worries. It is still hard to believe that Leicester City are in a relegation struggle but only goal difference is keeping them out of the bottom three. They head to the capital to take on a Brentford side who will move into the top six with a win. Aston Villa welcome third bottom AFC Bournemouth to Villa Park in the other game.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount to go at over the course of Saturday but there is one that I like and it will come as no surprise that it involves the goals at the match between Brentford and Leicester City. In the main, Leicester matches are high scoring games and Brentford matches at the Gtech don’t lack for goals either. Leicester have been susceptible to goals from set plays throughout the campaign and there aren’t many better at attacking from them than Brentford.
A previously goal shy Chelsea scored three against this Leicester defence last weekend and the way Brentford attack, especially at home, I’ve got to think they’ll find the net too, especially with Wout Faes out through suspension. Leicester have had it tough on the fixture list with four of their last five against the big six but they’ll believe they can fare better here. The three previous Premier League matches between this pair have had more than 2.5 goals and I expect this one to follow suit.
