The third week of action in the Premier League begins on Saturday when we have six matches in the competition to get stuck into as teams look to either maintain the early form they have shown or get their season fired into life.
As with most Saturdays in the Premier League the action begins with a TV match and ends with one and then the four matches that are in the middle carry the usual updates in all the normal places which are fairly well known by now.
Early Kick Off
The action begins in the capital where Tottenham Hotspur look to build on that dramatic late draw at Stamford Bridge last week when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers whose season hasn’t really got going yet. Tottenham have a win and a draw to their name and another win here will certainly have them laying a marker down. Wolves could do with a result just to dampen the voices of the growing number of doubters coming their way. A defeat here, especially a comprehensive one could have consequences.
3pm Matches
None of the so called big six are in action in the 3pm matches so they should all be pretty competitive affairs. The most appealing one is the one between Leicester City and Southampton at the King Power Stadium as it is one of only two which sees two teams who were in the division last season against each other. The other one sees Crystal Palace playing host to Aston Villa who will be looking to build on their win over Everton last weekend.
The other two matches both have a promoted team within them. Nottingham Forest won in front of their home fans last week and now they head to Goodison Park to take on an Everton side who will be desperate for a result after two losses to open their season. The other match sees two sides from the capital meeting each other when Fulham welcome Brentford to Craven Cottage with the latter looking to build on that emphatic win over Manchester United last week.

Late Game
There is a promoted team in the late game as well because AFC Bournemouth are in action. They have a win and a loss on their record with the win coming at home and they’ll be aiming to make the Vitality Stadium a bit of a fortress here too. Arsenal are the visitors to Dorset and the Gunners head there off the back of two ominous looking wins and if there is further improvement in them then Mikel Arteta’s men are entitled to be top four contenders this season.
Betting
I’ll take one bet this week and it follows on the lines of a bet which has won for me in the last two weeks and that is goals in a Southampton game. Saints have had their defensive deficiencies exposed by both Tottenham and Leeds in their opening two matches and I don’t see any reason why Leicester City won’t further exploit it. They have Harvey Barnes back for this match so should be able to slip into the 4-3-3 formation they like to use.
Southampton aren’t the only ones in this match with defensive issues though. Leicester have shipped six goals in two games like their opponents in this one have and now it appears Wesley Fofana has asked to miss this match because of a transfer rumour between himself and Chelsea. That certainly isn’t ideal for Brendan Rodgers and it might be that fire has to meet fire in this match. That’s certainly how I expect this one to play out so over 3 goals looks a pretty obvious bet in a fixture which has a history of goals.
