The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the final three matches take place as the title race is very much in the spotlight on what has all the feelings of a key day in the overall season.
Two of the three matches are live on the TV for us in the UK to enjoy and there will be no shortage of updates on the other game so on a cold January day there is no need to leave the couch and instead just watch four hours of football.
Newcastle United vs Fulham (14.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The opening televised match of the day comes from St James’ Park where Newcastle United will look to move to within six points of the leaders Arsenal when they host a Fulham side who will move into the top five of the table for a few hours at least if they come away with a victory.
Newcastle have been excellent this season but the one concern I’m starting to have over them is they are playing a lot of big matches at the minute and at some stage a flat performance will inevitably come along. I guess the same can be said of Fulham and they have to go again here after the euphoria of finally getting the better of Chelsea on Thursday evening. That is never an easy thing to do but they will have Aleksandar Mitrovic back for this one which will help. I think Newcastle will win this match but they are plenty short enough and have a decent handicap to cover so I’ll leave this one alone.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace (14.00)
The match away from the TV cameras on Sunday sees another London derby taking place when under pressure Chelsea go up against a Crystal Palace side who would appreciate a positive themselves just to keep a sizeable gap between themselves and the bottom three.
The struggles of Chelsea have been written about far and wide but they played better albeit in defeat to Fulham on Thursday evening and at some point the penny will drop and they will turn the corner. They are going to be without Joao Felix here though and their injury list is showing no signs of easing up so they could be vulnerable, especially as they only played on Thursday night and would probably want to rotate a few players. That brings Palace right into the game but they have just been hammered by Spurs and lost to a struggling Southampton side so I wonder what their confidence levels are like right now. This is an easy one to swerve.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal (16.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The big match of the day is the North London Derby where Arsenal have the opportunity to open up an eight point gap at the top of the Premier League table when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur who will be looking for a win of their own not just for bragging rights but to stay in touch with the top four.
This is a big match for both teams. You sense it is really big for Spurs who just feel like they are teetering on the edge of something major happening, either in the form of Conte leaving or him getting his way and going on a spending spree. If he can win this match it will convince more people he is the man for this job. It is huge for Arsenal because if they can go eight points clear of Man City they would be really starting to ramp up the pressure on the champions in the race for the title. I think we’re going to get a keenly contested derby and given that six of the last seven Premier League meetings between the two have gone beyond 2.5 goals and the other one had two goals this is a fixture where goals can come with neither wanting to lose to the other. I fancy that trend might continue here.
