A number of teams look to catch up with the Premier League schedule this midweek and eight of them do so on what could be an important Tuesday evening at both ends of the table but particularly the bottom.
One of the four matches will be live on TV in the UK and the TV coverage should provide regular updates of the other three, especially given the impact they will have on the bottom of the table throughout the night.
Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated – UK TV in brackets)
AFC Bournemouth v Brighton & Hove Albion
Leeds United v Nottingham Forest
Leicester City v Aston Villa
Chelsea v Liverpool (8pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The TV cameras head to the capital to see how Chelsea get on when they begin life without Graham Potter. The Blues host a Liverpool side who will probably be smarting from a 4-1 battering at Manchester City on Saturday. This fixture would normally be one of the standout clashes of the season but with Liverpool clinging on to top four hopes and Chelsea having no chance of making the top four it feels like a fixture which carries a greater reputation than importance.
That might not be the case for the three matches away from the TV cameras. The big one comes from Elland Road where two sides deep in relegation trouble meet when Leeds United host Nottingham Forest. AFC Bournemouth are still in danger even though they were winners at the weekend. They have a difficult home assignment against Brighton and Hove Albion to negotiate. Leicester City are now in the bottom two, a position which has cost Brendan Rodgers his job, and the Foxes begin life without Rodgers when they host an Aston Villa side who are flying at the minute.
Betting
It will be interesting to see if Leicester City look any different without Brendan Rodgers in the dugout but I find it hard to believe that in just 48 hours which is only going to equate to a maximum of a couple of training sessions that they will suddenly turn into a crack hot defensive outfit. Their defensive work against Crystal Palace at the weekend was embarrassing and that was in a game they had the lead in and didn’t even need to push the boat out. You fear for that Leicester defence against an Aston Villa side who are going very well at the minute.
One thing which will give Leicester some confidence and belief is the fact that they won 4-2 at Villa Park back in February and it might be that the shackles come off the Foxes in attack and we see an attacking display similar to that one. I just can’t believe Aston Villa don’t get joy going the other way. Ollie Watkins is as hot as anyone in the Premier League right now and Unai Emery is getting the best out of a number of other attacking talents. Despite that, Villa do give up big chances on the road. Their last three xGA totals on the road have been 1.88 against Everton, 2.58 against West Ham and 2.49 at Chelsea, none of whom are firing on all cylinders going forward. That all makes me believe we will see more than 2.5 goals in this one particularly given Leicester’s need for points.
