Premier League 2022-23 – Wednesday 1st March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

While most of the attention is on the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening, there are two Premier League matches taking place at the same time, one of which will have a big say in the title race this term.

Unfortunately with both the matches being rescheduled from earlier in the campaign, there is no UK TV coverage of either of the games so you will need to use other means in order to stay in touch with all the action.

Arsenal vs Everton (19.45)

The big match on Wednesday evening comes from the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal will be looking to open up a five point lead on Manchester City with just 13 matches to go. They host an Everton side who have the chance to come out of the bottom three over the course of the evening.

There is no doubt that Everton have improved under Sean Dyche but their only away match under him they were terrible. That might not be a surprise given their overall record as a whole on their travels but given that it was a derby their lack of intensity in the game was concerning. Everton actually beat Arsenal in the first game under Dyche but I expect the tables to be turned by Arsenal here. Arsenal probably had the better of that game but the ball never went in the net but on home soil I think they’ll go after the game and come out on top in it. We know exactly how Everton will set up here and that is to contain and be hard to beat and probably not offer too much up top. For all they have improved under Dyche they have only scored twice and you sense they might need to double that total to get anything from this one. I expect Arsenal to win but Everton aren’t going to allow themselves to be opened up at will so the 10/11 on Arsenal to win and there to be under three goals appeals here.

Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (20.00)

The other match on Wednesday evening comes from Anfield where Liverpool will look to get a season which is going nowhere back onto some sort of track when they host a team they have seen plenty of in recent times in Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This will be the fourth meeting of these two sides in 2023 after they played out two ties in the third round of the FA Cup as well as a Premier League game. There has been a win each and a draw in those opening three games but Wolves have been more than competitive in all of them and would have won the draw had VAR not had a complete mare. This is a big game for Wolves as they are one above the relegation zone at kick off and usually I would lean towards being involved in them in some form but this Liverpool run of form is such a concern that they might be right on this and if they are they are still better than Wolves. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Wolves do something here but I can’t get involved in the game given the questions over Liverpool alongside their potential.
