Premier League 2024-25 – Brighton vs Liverpool Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues with the Monday Night Football which takes us to the Amex Stadium this week for the clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and the champions Liverpool as both play their penultimate game of the campaign.

Liverpool are just playing down time until they get to lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday afternoon. Brighton could move into eighth in the table should they avoid defeat here which could open up a route into Europe still.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full on the Monday Night Football programme which will be shown on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels with the show beginning at 6.30pm ahead of the 8pm kick off.

Brighton and Hove Albion

This has been a bit of an inconsistent season for Brighton and Hove Albion but to their credit they are on course for a top 10 finish to it and I don’t think they can ever be too disappointed with that. I guess some would say that with established clubs such as Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur having a terrible campaign there was an opportunity for a Brighton to break into the upper echelons of the table but in a first term under Fabian Hurzeler they look to be moving in the right direction.

Brighton go into this contest unbeaten in their last three matches in the Premier League but they have found wins at home tough to come by this term. They have only won seven of their 18 home matches over the course of the season so they will be wanting to win their final home game. To be fair to the Seagulls, only three teams have left the Amex with all three points this season. They will be hoping that record remains in place here.

Liverpool

As you would imagine, the champions Liverpool have just looked a little flimsy since their were confirmed as the Premier League winners for this season. It must be hard to achieve something so big and so important and then keep going when there is nothing left to play for. They have a defeat and a draw in the two matches they have played in that time but it isn’t so much the results but more that the intensity has clearly dropped, understandably so.

The Reds have only lost two away matches over the course of this season but they have come in their last three away games so clearly they have just taken their foot off the gas and it will be interesting to see if after eight days since their last match they have found some motivation to finish the season strongly or whether it is just going to fizzle out until their party at Anfield next week. Defensively they haven’t looked as strong in recent matches.

Team News

Brighton and Hove Albion are expected to welcome their captain Lewis Dunk back from injury for this match. Kauro Mitoma is another back from the treatment table and Joao Pedro has served his suspension and is available too.

Arne Slot hasn’t given any indication that he has any fresh injuries going into this match but he was very non-committal when asked whether Trent Alexander-Arnold could feature after he was booed when he came on against Arsenal last weekend.

Betting

I think we should be looking at this match as one which is going to contain goals. The question comes in which is the best line for us to attack. The match line is over 3.5 goals with the first set of solid prices for the team ones being over 1.5 goals and it is the Liverpool lines which have lured me in as that way I don’t need to worry about running into an Alisson masterclass or anything like that. Brighton look like having Lewis Dunk back here but I don’t think that will make much of a difference.

We know how the patterns of play are going to work in this one. Brighton will have most of the ball and Liverpool can have opportunities on the counter. Liverpool have some attacking players who might have had their nose put out of joint with the recent links to Florian Wirtz and might have a point to prove here. Liverpool have scored two or more in the last four meetings with Brighton and two of those have been this season. Leicester City recently scored twice here as did West Ham United and I think it is fair to say that Liverpool carry a much greater goal threat than those two sides. I like them to score twice here and given that they have scored three here in the Carabao Cup this season I’ll have a nibble on them to add a third at a more than fair price too.
