Another exciting round in the Premier League concludes with the Monday Night Football which offers up a second London derby of the weekend as Champions League chasing Chelsea welcome West Ham United to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will move into the expected Champions League spots if they avoid defeat in this match while West Ham have the chance to get three points which would make their final third of the season a lot more comfortable.
Where to watch
The match will be shown live and in full on the Monday Night Football programme which will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League. The show begins at 6.30pm ahead of the 8pm kick off at the Bridge.
Chelsea
Having catapulted themselves into being the closest challengers to Liverpool just prior to Christmas, Chelsea have gone on a run of just one win in seven in the Premier League and now they are in need of a decent run to get Champions League football back within their own control. That can start with a win here against West Ham where just avoiding defeat will move them back into the top five, although a win will not only move them into those places but will also keep the chasing pack at a suitable distance.
Scoring goals hasn’t really been a problem for Chelsea this term even though Nicolas Jackson just looks to have come off the very top of his form. Keeping them out of their own net has been more of an issue though. They have kept one cleat sheet in their last 10 matches and that was against shot shy at the time Everton. If they are going to consolidate where they want to be this term they need to sort out their defensive record. Putting a more competent keeper between the sticks would help.
West Ham United
After a real campaign of struggle, West Ham United have started to show signs of life since Graham Potter arrived at the London Stadium. He has a win, a draw and a defeat in his three Premier League matches as the Hammers boss and he’ll clearly be motivated to get the better of the team who dismissed him without really giving him a chance to put a stamp on things with his own style in among that bloated squad which was forced on him.
There are certainly signs that he has got West Ham more organised. They look harder to break down and that hasn’t come to the detriment of an attacking threat. That attack has been depleted by injuries since Potter took over too so when they get players back there is every reason to think that the Hammers will climb the table. They do need to remain solid defensively here though because their record at the back against the top sides isn’t the best.

Team News
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is considering benching goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after his error for the second Manchester City goal last weekend is deemed perhaps one too many. Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are still sidelined.
West Ham could have their captain Jarrod Bowen back from a fractured foot but they could be without Lucas Paqueta who suffered a groin issue at the end of the draw with Aston Villa last weekend. Crysencio Summerville is a doubt with a hamstring injury.
Betting
This isn’t the easiest match to bet on because neither are in particularly great form it has to be said. Chelsea seem to be in a right funk at the minute with just one win in their last seven matches and it is only one more in that time for West Ham United. We’re still trying to find out exactly what the Hammers are going to be like under Graham Potter too. I do think that West Ham are huge value for this match but I would want to see Jarrod Bowen in their team before I pull the trigger on anything involving the visitors. I’m in no rush to back Chelsea either.
That takes me to the player markets where the guy that interests me is Noni Madueke who looks great value at 7/5 to have over 3.5 shots. Madueke averages a pretty ridiculous 4.1 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League so we are only looking for an average game for him to cover this line. With West Ham expected to pack the centre of the pitch, Chelsea are likely to be forced to attack out wide which brings the England international right into the ball game. Madueke should be full of confidence having scored in his last two matches and he had six shots in the last home game against Wolves and three in the game before that against Bournemouth. He gets into good positions to have shots and at this price I can’t ignore the 7/5 he fires four more away here.
