We have one match in the Premier League on Wednesday evening as the competition catches up from the postponed matches when Newcastle United look to take a huge step towards Champions League football next term when they host Crystal Palace.
Palace are gearing up for the FA Cup semi-final later in the month and have been assigned the role of spoiler here but this one is all about the home side as they look to continue what has been a wonderful campaign already.
Where to watch
The match will be shown on both the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels with the build-up beginning at 7pm ahead of the 7.30pm kick off.
Newcastle United
Newcastle United are very much on the up this season. They have already secured their first trophy in seven decades and if they can add Champions League football to the list of achievements this term then it would be one of the better campaigns in their history. You have to give them a lot of credit too because many teams who win something for the first time in a while can be affected by that success and suffer results wise but that hasn’t been the case for the Magpies.
They have won their last four matches in the Premier League either side of the Carabao Cup success and another win in this match, which is a game in hand on all of their rivals for the top five spots, will move them into third in the table and go five points clear of sixth with just six games to play. Newcastle have won nine of their 15 matches at home in the Premier League this season and are averaging two goals per game at St James’ Park too so they are entitled to be hard to beat here.
Crystal Palace
While the season hasn’t had the highlights for Crystal Palace that it has for Newcastle in terms of the trophy win, the Eagles could still rectify that this term because they are into an FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa and were they to win that they would be one win from Europe. By and large their league campaign has been decent enough too if you ignore their start to the season where they had to adjust to the loss of Michael Olise and had to manage Jean-Philippe Mateta through the early stages after his involvement in the Olympics.
With a 6-5-4 record away from home, Crystal Palace are one of the better away teams in the Premier League with just five teams having picked up more points on their travels than the Eagles this term. The loss to Manchester City at the weekend, which could easily have gone the other way had the Eze goal that would have put Palace 3-0 up stood, was the first in nine away from Selhurst Park and with no competitive league pressures on their shoulders they will go and express themselves here.

Team News
Newcastle United will once again be without their manager Eddie Howe on the sidelines as he is still recovering from pneumonia. Joe Willock has come through the concussion protocols but Sven Botman and Lewis Hall are both out.
The suspended pair of Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi are back for this one having served their bans against Manchester City at the weekend. Romain Esse and Matt Turner have recovered from illnesses and are expected to travel.
Betting
I took both teams to score and over 2.5 goals in the Monday night match and I’m not completely sure how that didn’t land but I am not perturbed and I’ll go for the same bet in this one because both of these teams have plenty of goals in them. Newcastle have scored two of their last three home matches but they did concede to Manchester United in one of those and three times to Nottingham Forest in another. In fact, Newcastle have conceded in their last five home games.
Palace are currently on a wonderful run away from home where they have scored in their last nine away matches and in 15 of their last 16 outings away from Selhurst Park. Palace have kept a number of clean sheets on the travels but Manchester City scored five against them at the weekend and Southampton scored against them in the away game prior to that. Both teams to score feels an obvious play but with Newcastle needing to win the game I’ll add over 2.5 goals into the mix to get the price up above evens.
