The extended Premier League weekend continues on Saturday afternoon but with teams having been in Europe on Thursday evening and a match in the division taking place on the same night, we are left with just four matches on Saturday.
It is a typical Saturday though despite the lack of matches with a TV game to enjoy in the UK at the beginning of the day and at the end of it. The other two games will have updates in all of the normal places.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Aston Villa vs Fulham (12.30pm – TNT Sports 1)
Everton vs Ipswich Town (3pm)
Leicester City vs Southampton (3pm)
Arsenal vs AFC Bournemouth (5.30pm)

Preview
The TV cameras head to Villa Park to get the day up and running when Champions League chasing Aston Villa know there isn’t much room to lose from here on in. Fulham will be the opponents testing their resolve and with the Europa League final looking like being an all-English affair and Chelsea looking strong in the Europa Conference League, the Cottagers could easily quality for Europe so they won’t want to slip up here either. The TV attention then turns to the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal host an AFC Bournemouth side who themselves aren’t out of European contention and will hope they are getting the Gunners at the right time.
Elsewhere, the three relegated sides are all in action across the two 3pm matches. Two of them meet each other at the King Power Stadium where Leicester City will look for a goal let alone a result having gone nine home matches without finding the net. They host a Southampton side for whom the motivation is simple – get a point to beat the Derby record of the worst Premier League season. Ipswich Town are the other relegated side and they make the trip to Merseyside for the penultimate match at Goodison Park to take on Everton.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that floats my boat across these four matches but I can’t ignore getting even money on what is effectively the double chance Asian line for AFC Bournemouth in their trip to Arsenal. It would be a massive surprise if Mikel Arteta were to risk anyone of any note in this match given that the Gunners will look to overturn a Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night and have absolutely nothing to play for here.
You could argue that Bournemouth aren’t playing for anything but the way that English teams are making the European finals there is a chance that next season spots could reach quite a way down the table, so actually the Cherries will be keen to win here. Having the red card for Evanilson rescinded is certainly no bad thing for the visitors who definitely carry a goal threat here and might not be tested defensively as much as they might have been. At even money backing Bournemouth not to lose makes a lot of sense here.
