Premier League 2024-25 – Saturday 8th March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend begins on Saturday when we have six matches taking place at all sorts of kick off times on a day where we could see the title getting closer to be won and the picture at the bottom becoming a bit clearer.

Usually we would have two TV matches in the UK to enjoy but we actually have a bonus game on Saturday so three in total and then the other three which will be played out at the traditional time will have updates in all the normal places.

Early Kick Off

We head to the City Ground to get the day up and running for the clash between the teams who are third and fourth in the Premier League table when Nottingham Forest host Manchester City in what is a huge clash in the race for Champions League football next season. Forest go into the game in their poorest form of the season so far while City look to be getting their act together as they always seem to do after Christmas so it will be interesting to see whether that form stands up or if we have a twist in the tale right out of the gate.

3pm Matches

We have three matches taking place at the usual 3pm time with the biggest one of them undoubtedly the clash between top of the table Liverpool and bottom of the pile Southampton in a match the Reds will be expected to dominate and claim the three points from despite their ongoing Champions League tie with PSG which gets settled on Tuesday evening. Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham are still dreaming of European football next season and they meet at the Amex Stadium in a key game for both in that hunt. Crystal Palace are the other home team on show when they entertain a struggling Ipswich Town side at Selhurst Park.

Late Games

Usually we would only have one late game on Saturday but this is where we get the bonus one this week and as such there are two matches, both of which are on the TV. We begin at the Gtech Community Stadium where Brentford welcome an Aston Villa side who will be looking to improve their poor record immediately after a Champions League match this term and then when they are done the attention turns to Molineux as Wolverhampton Wanderers will look to draw further clear of the bottom three when Everton are the visitors to the famous old ground to wrap up the day.

Betting

There is only one bet which I’m really interested in on Saturday. I was looking at the goals in the Brentford match but the line has crept up to 3.25 which puts me off a little bit given that Aston Villa have their Champions League tie in midweek so I’ll stick with the one I am more confident in which is for Everton to get the better of Wolverhampton Wanderers without the draw in play. I think this is a great bet and not just because of the form of the two sides.

Everton are unbeaten in their last seven under David Moyes and having not played last weekend he took his team away for a training camp so you would imagine they will be right at it here. Wolves had a bit of a bounce under Vitor Pereira but with six losses in their last eight we can safely say that has ended. Add into the mix that Matheus Cunha, responsible for contributions to almost half of the goals Wolves have scored this season, is suspended for this game and I struggle to see how Everton are the outsiders here. I’m happy to take them without the draw in play though.
