The Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the 10 teams who weren’t in action on Saturday take to the pitch to play out their third to last match of a campaign in which only the European spots are on the line.
We only have one TV game on Saturday which means that three of the five that come along on Sunday will on shown live in the UK and the TV coverage is likely to provide regular updates on the other two matches.
Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (2.15pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)
Newcastle United vs Chelsea (12pm – TNT Sports 1)
Manchester United vs West Ham United
Nottingham Forest vs Leicester City (Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace
Liverpool vs Arsenal (4.30pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Preview
We begin the day with arguably the most important match of it where two Champions League chasing sides meet at St James’ Park where Newcastle United host Chelsea with a defeat having big implications on whoever suffers it. The TV attention then follows the fortunes of another team who are pushing to be in the with elite in Europe next season in Nottingham Forest. They host their arch-rivals Leicester City at the City Ground before we head to Anfield for the match between the top two when Liverpool host Arsenal. Usually such a clash this late in the season would be huge but there is little on it with Liverpool having already wrapped up the title.
That leaves us with two other matches away from the TV cameras and they both feature one of the Europa League finalists. At Old Trafford, Manchester United will look to continue their sudden feelgood factor after reaching the European final when they host a West Ham United side who are doing precious little at the minute. Two upcoming finalists meet in the other match where the Europa League challengers Tottenham Hotspur host the FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Betting
I like a pair of bets over the course of the afternoon with the first one being on Crystal Palace to get the better of Tottenham Hotspur. This late in the season I’ll always take the draw cover that is available but less than 72 hours after they were playing on an awkward surface in the Arctic Circle I would be surprised if we see many of the same Spurs players trotting out here, and with the likes of James Maddison, Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall out for the season we could see a really weak Tottenham side here 10 days out from their Europa League final. Crystal Palace have the FA Cup final in six days but don’t have the depth to rotate too heavily even if they wanted to. There is more than enough danger in forward areas for Tottenham to be caused problems by Crystal Palace. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Palace went to Arsenal and drew 2-2 and a repeat of that should be more than good enough here.
The other bet I like is for under 3.5 cards between Liverpool and Arsenal. At one stage this might have been a feisty affair but now it is a match with nothing on it and I don’t expect Anthony Taylor to be reaching for his pocket too often as a result of that. He was on Monday Night Football earlier in the week boasting about his wonderful record for not showing many cards this season and there is no real need for him to manage this one with a flurry of cards. Liverpool will be in party mode and I doubt Arsenal will care now after being made to lick their wounds in Paris in midweek. He has dished out 98 yellow cards in 33 domestic matches as well as seven reds, although three of those were in the one game. He is averaging just 2.97 yellows per match now which when you consider he was averaging 5.2 after five matches shows how he has slowed down. Taylor refereed Man Utd vs Arsenal and Man City vs Liverpool in the last two months and showed a total of one card and only showed two in the Manchester derby in December. He refereed the reverse meeting between these two when there was much more on it and there were only four cards, one of which was to Gabriel Jesus who wasn’t on the pitch. Under 3.5 cards looks good in what could be played at friendly pace on a hot day.
