Premier League 2024-25 – Sunday 18th May Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The penultimate Sunday of the Premier League season promises to be a huge day for a number of the 10 teams on show for very different reasons as the campaign winds down to a fascinating conclusion over the next week.

Five matches take place in total over the course of the day with three of those games live on the TV in the UK for us to enjoy. The TV coverage should provide regular updates on the other clashes as they carry significance.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Everton vs Southampton (12pm – TNT Sports 1)

West Ham United vs Nottingham Forest (2.15pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

Preview

The day begins at Goodison Park where Premier League football will be played for the final time as the Everton men’s team play their last ever game there. Southampton are the visitors for what will be an historic day for Evertonians. When that is done the focus turns to the Champions League race with Nottingham Forest knowing they have to win when they go away to West Ham United else their hopes of playing in the elite competition next season will be hanging by a thread. The last of the TV matches sees second hosting third in the table when Arsenal take on Newcastle United with the visitors really opening the door to the chasers for a top five spot if they lose.

Away from the TV cameras we have another key battle in the chase for the minor European spots next season. It looks almost certain that eighth will get into one of the tournaments next term and Brentford currently occupy that spot. They will look to preserve it going into the final week of the season when they host a Fulham side who could keep themselves interested in it should they win. The other match is all about Jamie Vardy as he concludes his Leicester City career when he makes his 500th appearance for the club when Ipswich Town are the visitors to the King Power Stadium.

Betting

West Ham United ended a run of eight matches without a win when they beat Manchester United last week and I see no reason why they can’t follow that up with another result against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon. Forest have shown signs of having run their race since they went down to Manchester City in the cup semi-final at Wembley and if Murillo isn’t fit to start here you do fear for them a little because they were exposed regularly by an ordinary Leicester City side last week.

Although West Ham hadn’t won for a while prior to their success last week, they have only lost one of their last five Premier League matches and that was against Newcastle United. Graham Potter has spoken about wanting to continue to build the connection with the fans and this is the last home game of the season for the Hammers so there will be motivation for them to finish off with a win. The Hammers look to have a near fully fit squad and look a fair bet as outsiders on the draw no bet market against a Forest side who have only won one of their last seven in all competitions and that was against a Tottenham team who were more focused on the Europa League than the Premier League.
