The Premier League weekend extends to Tuesday night this week with the two teams involved in the FA Cup final having their match delayed until then. That means we have two games to enjoy over the course of the evening.
Unfortunately only one of the two matches will be live on the TV for us to get stuck into in the UK but you would imagine that the TV coverage will give us regular updates in what is happening in the other one at the very least.
Manchester City vs AFC Bournemouth (20.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The TV cameras will make their way to the Etihad Stadium to see whether Manchester City can bounce back from their FA Cup final defeat and keep Champions League qualification in their own hands when they host a Bournemouth side for whom Europe is still a possibility.
It gets complicated with regards to Bournemouth potentially playing in Europe as they need Chelsea to falter at the weekend but Manchester City have their destiny in their own hands. If they can win their last two matches then they will be playing against the elite again next term. City haven’t been bombproof in recent times though. They drew 0-0 with Southampton last weekend and then lost to Palace in the cup final. The good news for City and their supporters is it would be a huge surprise if they have to break down a low block here and they showed in the 6-1 demolition they put on in this fixture last year what can happen when teams come out at them but you suspect Bournemouth have learnt from that and won’t be quite as open as they were that day. I would expect City to win this but they are plenty short enough when winning is the only aim they have got. I’m happy to let this one play out without getting involved in it.

Crystal Palace vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (20.00)
The one match away from the TV cameras on Tuesday evening takes us to Selhurst Park where there is likely to be some party going on after Crystal Palace won the cup on Saturday. Their first match since then sees them hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers in a game which has little on it for either side.
You would have to believe this is just a match that Crystal Palace won’t want to play so soon after Saturday. The enormous comedown is a pretty obvious reason to avoid the Eagles here even if they are at home but the amount of social media posts and videos doing the rounds of their celebrations after the cup win is another. It simply has to take more than 48 hours for what they achieved to sink in and for them to go again. People will say that Newcastle were able to do it but they had two weeks between the final win and their next league game. Palace have barely had two days and then you have to factor in that it looks extremely unlikely that Marc Guehi is going to be fit to play and Adam Wharton is another doubt and Oliver Glasner will no doubt freshen things up even more. Wolves have nothing like that to worry about. They are fresh, have most of their players fully fit and are trying to build something under Vitor Pereira which should ensure they go to the end of the season, much like Palace did in the same situation under Glasner last term. This looks like a great spot to take Palace on and the fact we get full draw cover if this is a damp squib of a match which never ignites, which could happen, makes me even happier to take them on.
