The Premier League weekend concludes with a Monday Night Football this week which sees two struggling sides meeting in what feels like a huge clash as West Ham United host Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium.
These two begin the night in the bottom seven of the table, which is the opposite end of where the home side expected to be at the very least, while the visitors are staring down the barrel of a relegation battle and need points desperately. That should ensure that we get a good game here.
Where to watch
The match will be shown live and in full on the Monday Night Football programme which will be shown on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels. The show begins at 6.30pm with kick off at the London Stadium coming at 8pm.
West Ham United
You get the impression that we are in a defining time for West Ham United. When they disposed of the services of David Moyes, employed Julen Lopetegui and gave him a tidy sum to spend in the summer that the Hammers hierarchy would have expected to be in the top half of the table and pushing for European football this term rather than four places above the drop. They have won just four of their 14 matches and have conceded one goal fewer than two per game.
In their last two matches they have been humbled at home by Arsenal and then lost at Leicester, although in the latter they had more than 30 shots and only registered one goal so while they were not terrible in the game, they need to enforce their dominance into shots and get wins in the games that they are expected to win. This is another of those games and it will be interesting to see if they are more clinical here or whether they have issues up top.
Wolverhampton Wanderers
When you consider that Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the surprise packages in terms of the amount of excellent results that they achieved last season when they were fancied by many to be relegated, this is clearly not the campaign that anyone at the club would have wanted but it should be remembered that they lost two of their most important players in the summer and were never really able to replace them. Even allowing for that, the statistics paint a really sorry picture at the minute.
Wolves have only won two out of 14 games this term, one of which was against the team below them in the table in Southampton. That is bad enough but they have conceded 36 goals in those 14 games and have conceded four or more on four separate occasions, including the last two matches, and that is something that is clearly going to need to change if they are to get out of their predicament. To their credit, the 22 goals they have scored is better than all the other teams in the bottom nine so if they can sort their back line out they’ll give themselves a chance of escaping trouble.

Team News
West Ham United are going to be without Michail Antonio after his serious road accident at the weekend. Jean-Clair Todibo is expected to miss this match with an adductor issue but Niclas Fullkrug returned from injury off the bench last week and could get a longer role here.
Wolverhampton Wanderers will have Nelson Semedo back after he missed the loss against Everton because of suspension. Pablo Sarabia also missed that game because of injury and he is a doubt for this one. Sam Johnstone could replace Jose Sa between the sticks.
Betting
It is hard to look at these two teams right now and see anything other than goals. If we just go down the goals conceded angle, West Ham are shipping a goal fewer than two per game and Wolves are conceding more than 2.5 goals per game. When you then add the attacking statistics into it, Wolves score more than 1.5 goals per game and West Ham are also averaging over a goal a game so the goal line of 2.75 just looks there to be attacked, especially as it means we get half a win with three goals.
Both teams have conceded eight goals in their last two matches and in those games each side have faced a team in the bottom six so it isn’t like the fixtures have gone against them. You would imagine this is a match both managers have targeted as must win with their jobs under severe threat so that should see about both teams going for it rather than sitting back and waiting to be beaten so all things being equal it will be a real surprise if there isn’t at least three goals here to get us some profit but more than that to win the bet in full.
