Premier League 2025-26 – Side Markets Tips and Betting Preview

We are still a few hours away from the Premier League 2025-26 season kicking off and before it does there is just enough time to look at some of the side markets that are on offer for the competition ahead of the first whistle.

As with all the other divisions that we have covered ahead of the season, we have markets on things like finishing position, player and manager markets, regional offerings and so much more and here is what I like this year.

Finish Bottom

Usually the first market I would go at is the relegation market but the value in the teams that I considered in that has gone so I will go for the team to finish bottom. I firmly expect Burnley and Leeds United to be relegated again this season yet in this market the former is 13/8 and the latter is 11/2 about 3 times the price. That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me because although Burnley have lost James Trafford and CJ Egan-Riley, they have made some decent signings with the experience that Kyle Walker brings on top of the attacking prowess of Armando Broja.

Burnley are likely to be much more solid at the back than they were when Vincent Kompany brought them up and Scott Parker will have them playing on the counter so there is a style which could work when it needs to. Leeds have added at the back end of the pitch but they look powderpuff up top and the addition of Dominic Calvert-Lewin does nothing to convince me otherwise. If they suffer one or two big injuries to the wrong players at the wrong time and Leeds could really struggle under a manager who has failed every time he has been in the Premier League. At the prices I’ll take Leeds to finish bottom.

Top Six Finish

The top six finish market is one for the accumulators but if you are having a bet on a team that you can put a significant stake on as your only outright punt for the season then it can work in that regard as well. The team that I like here is Aston Villa, who don’t actually need to improve to finish in the top six because they did that last season. I certainly don’t expect Newcastle United to finish above Aston Villa this term regardless of the Isak situation and how it resolves itself.

There is a belief that Manchester United and Tottenham have top six levels of improvement in them this term but while they are going to improve I’m not sure I would back either to finish above Aston Villa. I would have been happy to take Villa in the top four market but we saw last season how the intention can quickly be all about the top five so I don’t want to lose a bet on that situation. I expect Villa to do late business in the transfer window once the Jacob Ramsey deal goes through and them to finish in the top six looks good to me.

Top Promoted Club

I have pretty much given the game away in terms of the team I think will be the top promoted club and that is obviously Sunderland. I actually think that they will stay in the division now and I thought that before the raft of signings came in because I think Regis le Bris is a very astute manager who has got this young Sunderland squad organised but well drilled and capable of doing some damage on the counter.

Since then, he has brought in the likes of Granit Xhaka, who has so much Premier League experience so he will be a huge player in the middle of the park, Simon Adingra who has been good for Brighton recently and should fit the countering style of Sunderland nicely, as well as a couple of handy defenders. They might still need an out and out number nine but Marc Guiu is highly thought of at Chelsea and with a huge crowd roaring Sunderland to victory every well I think the 11/4 on the Black Cats to be the top promoted side looks very good.

Next Manager to Leave

The final market that I like the look of before we get going in the Premier League is the next manager to leave one where the 9/1 on Nuno Espirito Santo is just too big. If you look at the favourites, Keith Andrews has just been appointed and he’ll get until Christmas before a kneejerk decision is made. The Burnley hierarchy kept with Vincent Kompany when they were out of their depth at this level so it would be harsh to sack Scott Parker early in the campaign. Daniel Farke could be a danger but I think Leeds will have more patience than Forest.

If Nottingham Forest start the season slowly, and if their results in pre-season are anything to go by then they will, then their owner could quickly have enough of Nuno Espirito Santo, especially when we add those clashes last season into the mix. Forest scored one goal in seven matches in pre-season and they have a squad that will need time to bed in up front. Time isn’t something Nuno is guaranteed so I’ll pay to see if he is first for the jam roll at 9/1.
