Premier League 2025-26 – Sunday 4th January Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The remainder of the first full weekend of action in the Premier League in 2026 takes place on a busier than usual Sunday where six matches take place on a day where the chasers for the title and European spots are on show.

The good news about these matches being on a Sunday is that all of them can be viewed live in the UK throughout the day although four of them kick off at the same time so you’ll need plenty of devices to watch all the action.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated; UK TV in brackets)

Leeds United vs Manchester United (12.30pm – TNT Sports 1)

Everton vs Brentford (Sky Sports Golf)

Fulham vs Liverpool (Sky Sports Main Event)

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace (Sky Sports Premier League)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Sunderland (Sky Sports Football)

Manchester City vs Chelsea (5.30pm – Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League)

Preview

We begin the day at Elland Road where two sides who don’t really like each other battle it out when the white rose side of Leeds United host the red rose outfit of Manchester United in a game where the visitors will be looking to silence some of the noise and the home team will be looking to ease their relegation concerns. The other standalone match comes in the evening where Manchester City will look to move back into second spot when they host a Chelsea side who begin life without Enzo Maresca with a trip to the Etihad Stadium.

The other four matches all take place at 3pm where Liverpool are the highest placed team on show. They make a trip to the capital to take on a Fulham side who go in search of a fifth game without defeat. Sunderland will be hoping they have the chance to move back into the top five when they also compete in London. They will take on Tottenham Hotspur while in the other two matches Everton host Brentford and Newcastle United go up against Crystal Palace.

Betting

I’m not normally one for betting the early kick off but there should be a right good atmosphere at Elland Road and I expect Leeds United to rise to the occasion because of it. It isn’t ideal that Ethan Ampadu is suspended but Ao Tanaka is a perfectly capable replacement but really the like of Leeds is a dislike of Manchester United in truth. They looked very poor in the draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers to round off 2025 and their away record under Ruben Amorim is bang average at best.

The Red Devils are missing three key players in Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbuemo and Bruno Fernandes and when you looked at their bench against Wolves there really wasn’t much on it at all. Daniel Farke rotated some of his team at Anfield on Thursday night and while it took him a while to land on a formation where his team can flourish at this level he is there now. With a passionate fanbase behind them and a couple of hotheads in the opposition I fancy Leeds to be the winners here if there is a winner.
