The Premier League Darts season will draw to a close on Thursday evening when four men head to the o2 Arena in London looking for the two match wins that they need to land the biggest invitation tournament in the sport.
The top four after 16 rounds of weekly action have made it through to compete for the title on what is usually one of the best nights of darts of the whole year and with the line up here there is no reason why that would be any different this time around.
Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price
The opening semi-final of the night sees the table topper Luke Littler, who is back at the o2 Arena looking to make a successful defence of the title, going up against the fourth placed finisher in the form of Gerwyn Price.
Littler goes into both this match and the night as a whole as the overwhelming favourite to win but Price will know only too well that he has a good record against the world champion and he probably has little to lose here. When you consider the Price record in this tournament through the seasons, him being here at the o2 is a success story and so he can play with freedom and look to cause the ultimate upset in this one. Littler has been in excellent form this term and is a worthy favourite but you have to respect the Price record against him. Over this distance I think the scoring power of Littler will be just too much but I’m not as strong on it as I’d like to be in order to have a bet on it.

Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall
The second semi-final is a battle of second and third in the regular season table battling it out when two men who have lost in a Premier League final before battle it out to reach another one when Luke Humphries faces off against Nathan Aspinall.
Humphries had another solid regular season campaign but there is no doubt that the surprise package was Aspinall and he will probably see it as a win that he is here. With that in mind he has nothing to lose but over the regular season he was a full four points below Humphries on the averages and that doesn’t bode well over the longer format. Humphries is the one under pressure here though although he is used to that being the world number one and having been the world champion for a year. I think this will be a decent match as a result and while I expect Humphries to have too much, it is over 10.5 180s which interests me here. Aspinall has been scoring really well this season while Humphries will improve for the longer format. Generally when these two meet the 180s flow and I see no reason why that won’t be the case here.
Premier League Betting
Four will play down to one on finals night and there is a market for the tournament winner, although it isn’t one I really want to invest in. I don’t see anything other than a Luke Littler vs Luke Humphries final. That has been the theme of the entire season and the longer distance should only further emphasise that will be the case. The odds are fully expecting that to be the case and I wouldn’t disagree with that, although there is always the slight doubt that Price will maintain his good record over Littler.
That might make Humphries the value. You could certainly argue he is anyway as he wouldn’t be 9/4 to win a knockout match against Littler should he get the better of Aspinall as most would expect. The big issue is that Humphries will be straight back on after winning that semi-final whereas Littler would be fresher after the better part of an hour between his semi-final and the final. That looked to make the difference a year ago when the two met in the final and that would put me off. It is a night to enjoy a final between those two if it happens rather than bet on it really.
