Premier League – Leicester City vs Tottenham Betting Preview

The last Premier League match before the final day of the season takes place on Thursday evening when the former champions Leicester City host the side they pipped to that title last season in Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs know that win, lose or draw here they will finish the season in second place in the table while a win here would move Leicester into the top half of the table which would probably be an acceptable finish given their early season struggles.

Leicester City

Last season’s champions head into this match off the back of a defeat at Manchester City at the weekend but had Riyad Mahrez not slipped over taking a penalty they would have extended their unbeaten run to three matches so the Foxes are finishing the season well. With two home matches left I’m sure they’ll aim to continue that good end to the campaign.

Although Leicester have looked much more like last year’s team since Craig Shakespeare has taken over in the hot seat I don’t think they are quite as solid defensively as the Ranieri version was and that arguably makes them better to watch. They will be tested at the back in this match that is for sure.

Tottenham

Credit goes to Tottenham for making what there was of a title race this season when no other side came remotely close to hanging on to the coattails of Chelsea but ultimately they couldn’t quite go with them for long enough. That said they have won nine of their last ten matches so there is nothing wrong with their form.

The big question for Spurs in this match is whether they will be able to get up for this one after the celebrations and fanfare around their final match at White Hart Lane on Sunday. There was lots of emotion around the place that day and it would only have been natural for the players to have got caught up in it.

Team News

Leicester look likely to be without Wes Morgan and Robert Huth for this match once again which means Christian Fuchs could play centre half again. Danny Drinkwater is definitely out with injury.

Tottenham are still without Danny Rose and Erik Lamela but look to have a mostly fit squad. They could have an issue at right back though with both Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker nursing injuries.

Betting

I wouldn’t necessarily go against Leicester in this match but you have to be a pretty brave man to take on Tottenham in their current form and I have to admit that I’m not brave enough.

I do think we will see a few goals in this match though. There is no reason for either side to sit back and play defensively at this stage of the season. There isn’t anything significantly competitive on the game so I’m expecting both teams to look to attack and entertain. There is some of the best attacking talent in the Premier League on show in this match which can lead to at least three goals and potentially more.
