Premier League – Liverpool vs Man Utd Betting Preview

One of the biggest matches of the Premier League season so far takes place on Monday night. Liverpool host their bitter rivals Manchester United in a match which could have implications on the title race even this early into the season.

A Liverpool win would move them level with Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table. Man Utd would go level on points with Liverpool should they claim the win so there is plenty at stake in this game.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s men have made an excellent state to the season. their only defeat in seven matches coming at Burnley and we’ve mentioned how tough a place that is to go throughout our recent previews, so we certainly won’t hold that against them. They are scoring goals and entertaining much in the style of their manager.

We’ve already seen Liverpool beat Arsenal and Chelsea away this season. They have disposed of the champions Leicester at Anfield as well so any doubts that they were not genuine title contenders have been silenced already.

Man Utd

It hasn’t been the most convincing or consistent start for Man Utd this season. Jose Mourinho has been searching for his best side since he took over the club and there’s no guarantees he has found it yet. He’ll need to find it pretty soon if United are to get a run going to launch them into the title mix.

United looked excellent against Leicester recently but their draw against Stoke last time out was a laboured one and really highlighted the inconsistency that is in them at the minute. Jose Mourinho has a personal rivalry with Liverpool which should spice up this match a lot more – not that it needs any spicing up.

Team News

Liverpool look set to be without Adam Lallana after the injury which kept him out of England duty hasn’t cleared up. Georginio Wijnaldum picked up an injury while on international duty and he could miss this game. Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren should be fit though.

Jose Mourinho has Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Luke Shaw fit after they have recovered from injury but neither are guaranteed starters despite the side only drawing with Stoke last time out.

Betting

I like Liverpool in this match. I’ve been very impressed with them this season and I think the movement and quality up front could have this United defence in absolute knots throughout the contest.

Away from home especially United haven’t convinced me. They lost at Watford and only narrowly beat Hull and they weren’t good performances. They are going to need their very best to contain a Liverpool side who have scored nine goals in their two home matches this season and who are high on confidence right now.

We have to recognise this is a rivalry game which has been hyped up to the hilt but with draw cover I think Liverpool are an excellent bet to come through this one successfully.
