Premier League – Saturday 10th September Matches Betting Preview

The Premier League returns from the international break on Saturday and it does so with a sizzling schedule which should really kick the season into life. In total we have eight matches across the three different kick off times and they should contain plenty of entertainment.

Early Kick Off

It is the highest profile match of the season so far to get us off and running as Manchester United host their local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford. All the build-up has been about Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola but this is about more than that. Both sides head into the match with 100 % records but only one can come out with theirs intact.

3pm Matches

We have six matches in the regular slot with the first one coming from the Emirates as Arsenal host Southampton. Bournemouth host West Brom down at the Goldsands while two promoted sides meet at Turf Moor when Burnley welcome Hull. Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace meet at the Riverside while Tottenham head up to face Stoke. Watford travel to the Olympic Stadium to take on West Ham.

Late Game

The action rounds off for the day with the champions and their trip to Anfield on the day the new stand at the famous ground is used for the first time. Neither side have made the most convincing start to the season so there could be a little bit of pressure on both heading into the match. Leicester will need to guard against having an eye on their Champions League debut in midweek.

Betting

This isn’t a round of fixtures where there is a lot I like but there are two that I’m going to go with. I’ve given tentative swerves to West Brom and Tottenham are decent looking prices in favour of the two which I’m going with.

The first comes in the derby where all the hype would make you believe this will finish 4-4 and be the greatest attacking match in the history of the world. It won’t. We’ve seen many a battle between clubs managed by these two sides. Mourinho tries to stifle the opposition in these sorts of matches and he is very good at it.

United will undoubtedly be helped by the Aguero suspension perhaps not in terms of anything they do at the offensive part of the pitch but they should certainly be more comfortable in defensive areas. We know City will see plenty of the ball but without Aguero they might lack an end product so under 2.5 goals looks likely to me.

I’m also going to go the other way in the Arsenal vs Southampton match. Southampton are the sort of side who Arsenal struggle against in terms of the way the Saints break and the pace they have in their side but that said Arsenal are at home and will look to be on the front foot a lot of the time.

Both Watford and Sunderland have bagged a goal against Southampton this season which encourages me that Arsenal will get through them but we can never rely on Arsenal keeping a clean sheet so I think there is every chance this one has over 2.5 goals in it.
