Premier League – Saturday 14th January Matches Betting Preview

After the FA Cup break we have the first Premier League weekend of 2017 and it begins with eight matches on Saturday as issues at the top end of the table and the bottom of it continue to evolve.

On Saturday we have the leaders Chelsea in action as well as all of the bottom half so there are many stories to play out on a day which has three kick off times.

Early Kick Off

It all begins at White Hart Lane where Tottenham can go up to second place for at least 24hrs when they host West Brom. A Spurs win will move them above Liverpool while a win for Everton will move them into seventh until Sunday at least.

3pm Matches

Burnley are at home again on Saturday when they welcome Southampton to Turf Moor while Arsenal look to get back in the title picture when they travel to lowly Swansea. Hull City host Bournemouth with all eyes on their new manager Marco Silva while Sunderland meet Stoke.

It will be an emotional afternoon at Vicarage Road when Watford welcome Middlesbrough for their first match since the passing of Graham Taylor while the 3pm action concludes with a London derby between West Ham and Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.

Late Game

A busy day of Premier League action finishes with the champions Leicester welcoming the side who sealed the title for them to the King Power as Chelsea are the visitors. This match took on an extra profile on Friday evening when it was revealed that Diego Costa has been dropped from the Chelsea squad after a dispute with Antonio Conte.

Betting

I’m going to go with two matches from this card. I’m probably boring everyone with my first bet but still the bookmakers aren’t giving this Burnley home record any credit. To have them as outsiders to Southampton is one thing but to have them to a Saints side who put in the effort they did in midweek is quite another.

I won’t go on about Burnley again, I’ve done that enough this season but they look to be getting better than they were when I started following them. Southampton might have won in midweek but that took a lot of effort and they have lost their last three in the league. It feels wrong to take a + handicap on Burnley but as it is being offered I will happily take it.

The other bet sees Crystal Palace going to West Ham. Things aren’t good for West Ham at the minute. The Dimitri Payet situation hasn’t come out well on them and their performance last week was shocking in the extreme. To be fair Palace have offered little recently but West Ham are poor at home and are under all sorts of pressure here and have plenty of eyes on them to see how they will cope without Payet. I just sense this is a good chance for Palace to go there and get a result of some kind.
