Premier League – Sunday 11th December Matches Betting Preview

The latest round of Premier League matches finishes in a sizzling Sunday which sees two of the top three in action as well as a decent support cast as the top flight continues to head towards the half way stage of the competition.

There are four matches in total in the division with three of them on the various channels in the UK along with one which has been moved to Sunday due to Europa League ties last week. We’ll go through them in time order.

Chelsea vs West Brom

Chelsea lost top spot in the table on Saturday but if they avoid defeat in this one they will regain it straight away but having won their last eight matches they will be looking for a lot more than just avoiding defeat. West Brom have taken 10 points from their last 12 so will head to London full of confidence.

Chelsea just look like the real deal to me at the minute. They have seen off Tottenham and Man City in the last two weeks and prior to that they had kept six clean sheets in a row. West Brom have been in better form of late but Leicester, Burnley, Hull and Watford are nothing like Chelsea. I expect the home side to win this and I would be surprised if West Brom see enough of the ball or get forward enough to stop the Blues winning to nil.

Man Utd vs Tottenham

The biggest match of the afternoon is this one as both sides go in search of the win they need to get back in the title picture. A Tottenham win would have them attached to the top four while United would move a little closer but still be well behind the top four even if they win here.

I’ve found calling United matches tricky all season. I don’t think they’ll win this match. Spurs are pretty hard to beat but they haven’t been winning enough matches for my liking. That might well mean the draw is a runner here but I’m not one for backing draws so I’ll sit this one out.

Southampton vs Middlesbrough

Two sides in the wrong half of the table meet away from the live cameras at St Mary’s although a win for either would move them nicely up the table. For Middlesbrough that would represent for the first time this season while Southampton will be looking to avenge the loss to Crystal Palace last week.

Both these sides have identical goal records with 13 scored and 15 conceded. Middlesbrough have proven to be hard to beat in recent times while Southampton are tough to break down at home so I don’t envisage there being much between these two. Only Chelsea have been to Southampton and won this season while Boro have drawn their last four on the road. This might end all square too.

Liverpool vs West Ham

The final match of the day looks like being the most open one and as such potentially the most watchable one as high-flying Liverpool take on struggling West Ham. Liverpool will move to within a point of Arsenal if they win the game while West Ham go into the match in the bottom three after Swansea’s win on Saturday and need the points themselves.

One of the reasons why I expect an open game here is because neither can defend. It isn’t like either manager can do anything to tighten up either. They simply don’t have the defensive players to defend so I’m expecting plenty of attacking here. Between them they shipped nine goals last weekend and in fairness to West Ham they have only failed to score in one of their last eight. This one looks full of goals.
