Premier League – Sunderland vs Everton Betting Preview

There is one match left in the Premier League this weekend and it comes from the Stadium of Light and David Moyes’ Sunderland side host his former club Everton in the Monday Night Football.

It has been a slow start for Sunderland this season and already Moyes has warned fans that their side will be in a relegation battle which might not necessarily be what they wanted to hear after just three matches. Everton have begun much stronger and could go third with a win here.

Sunderland

After losing their opening two matches Sunderland did at least get off the mark in their third match just before the international break when they managed a 1-1 draw at Southampton. Their defeats came against Man City in a match they competed in and Middlesbrough which for large periods they didn’t offer up much of a challenge in.

David Moyes has gone in and made an impression on the squad. Lamine Kone has been frozen out despite being one of the key men in the great escape last season but realistically this is a side that needs shaking up in the offensive third of the pitch with creativity looking very sparse in supply so far.

Everton

The Toffees got their season up and running with a draw against Tottenham and since then they have produced wins over West Brom and Stoke as Ronald Koeman looks to make an immediate impact up at Goodison Park. He has certainly done that in the transfer market where he has spent wisely and this squad immediately looks stronger than the one he inherited.

One thing Everton certainly don’t lack for is creativity. They have some of the best creative players in the league who can open up any side and now they have added genuine pace and depth to that area of the park as well so they look strong. Defensively they are set to improve too so the early signs are that are Everton fans are set for an enjoyable season.

Team News

Sunderland will be without Fabio Borini for the foreseeable future as he is out injured but new signings Mika Domingues and Jason Denayer are likely to be involved. The international break has presented the opportunity for Jordan Pickford and Jan Kirchoff to feature.

Everton could give a debut to deadline day signing Enner Valencia and there is a chance Seamus Coleman could return. Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley are likely to be available too but James McCarthy has had surgery and will definitely miss out.

Betting

I fear a little for Sunderland in this match I have to admit. This is a perfect platform for Everton to perform on and in. Sunderland don’t really have the power, pace or creativity to put too much pressure on them defensively which will release the creative players to do their thing at the other end of the field.

Everton have shown good signs in attacking areas this season and the reinforcements that were made in the transfer window will have added to the competition and the ability to keep everyone fresh. The Toffees’ last two wins on this ground were both without conceding and at 11/4 I think there is plenty of value in them winning to nil here too.
